WHAT IS A FULL SUMMER? A FULL SUMMER is a food-packaging event that will bring together volunteers to pack meals for the hungry and food-insecure in our local area. This is an extraordinary event of giving and caring where neighbors, congregations, memberships, work groups, and communities can participate and extend love to those in need! WHEN WILL A FULL SUMMER TAKE PLACE? A FULL SUMMER will take place Saturday, June 6 from 10:00AM-12:00PM. wHO IS ORGANIZING A FULL SUMMER? This event is supported by Leon County Schools, in partnership with FBCTLH, St. John’s Episcopal Church, and Hope2theHungry to benefit Second Harvest of the Big Bend. WHERE WILL A FULL SUMMER TAKE PLACE? The packaging will take place at the Rickards High School cafeteria located at 3013 Jim Lee Road. WHY ARE WE DOING THIS? Summer is a critical time for children who depend on free or reduced-price school lunches. When school is out, many of these children do not have a reliable source of food. Meals prepared at A FULL SUMMER will be distributed by Second Harvest of the Big Bend to low-income children and families right here in the Big Bend community. By participating in A FULL SUMMER, you are making a difference in a child’s life by ensuring that he or she has nutritious meals. HOW TO PARTICIPATE: Donate time, or money, or both! FBCTLH is responsible for providing 110 volunteers and $7,500 to purchase the required food supplies. Volunteers will serve in teams of 10; if you would like to be placed on a specific team, please return your registration forms together.
