Flossmoor Community Church
In Ephesians 4, the Apostle Paul describes pastors and other leaders as gifts God has given
the Church “to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the Church, the body of Christ”.
Stephen Ministry (www.stephenministries.org) provides an organized way to equip those
gifted for caring ministry within our congregation. Stephen Ministers participate in one-onone caring relationships with folks in our congregation who might be experiencing difficult
situations in their lives. If you think you might benefit from the care of Stephen Ministry, or
simply want more information, please contact Rev. Fred Lyon at the church (708-798-2800). All
inquiries and caregiving are confidential.

FCC is Under
a Jesus Alert!
How do you experience Jesus as you encounter
people and circumstances in your daily life? Keep track
of your experiences and then feel free to share them with
the congregation on Pentecost Sunday, May 24 (with
attribution or anonymously). Or maybe you've had a
memorable experience of Jesus previous to this alert. Feel
free to share that, too!
Send your experience(s) by postal mail, email to flyon@
fccfaithful.org, or by dropping it off at the Church Office.
Please do so by Wednesday May 20 to prepare for
publication on May 24. There will also be time for sharing
our experiences in conversation together during worship
on Pentecost Sunday.
Since Christ is central at FCC, let’s be on the lookout for
him!
Confirmation Sunday
Thank you to those who
have sent in pledges!
To date, we have received 193 pledges totaling $674,198,
which is $146,802 short of our goal of $820,000. For those
still prayerfully considering this year’s pledge, we hope to
hear from you soon. You can turn in your pledge by postal
mail, email ([email protected]), offering plate
during worship, or dropping it off at the church office.
Know that your generosity strengthens FCC’s shared
calling to seek—connect—serve together as a community
of faith that is committed to following where the risen
Christ leads us.
Next Sunday, May 17 at 9:45 am
Please join us as our Youth Disciples Class confirms their
faith and joins the membership of FCC.
COFFEE
AND. . .
TODAY at 11 a.m. in the Parlor
Sometimes you want a quiet place and a cup of tea or
coffee. Other times you’d like to chat with a friend. Coffee,
tea, newspapers, and comfortable chairs are available
from 11 a.m. to noon after worship. If it’s sunny, you may
want to grab a cup “to go” and sit outside in the McAfee
Garden or even walk the labyrinth.
Please note: The Discovery Forum and Labyrinth
Walk on Sunday, May 17 have been cancelled
so all may enjoy the All Church Picnic.

WE LOVE
OUR YOUTH!

person with a passion for the spiritual nurturing
of teenagers and adults?
Do you understand how Youth learn, relate and develop?
Do you believe interacting creatively with
Youth can and should be fun?
Can you keep up with Youth and the technological
programs they use?
If this fits you to a “Teen”, we want to talk with you about
the position of Director of Youth Ministries at FCC! Please

beautiful works of art and jewelry created by our youth
which are available for sale after worship today and next
Sunday to benefit the cause.
Wednesday, May 20
Join us for the final Questers gathering for the program
year with a trip to Cantigny Park near Wheaton, IL. Enjoy
opportunities to tour the McCormick house, wander the
gardens, and visit the WWI museum. We will meet in the
parking lot of the Community House at 9 a.m. and car
pool. There is no fee for the park, and a lovely restaurant
in the gift shop building where we can join together for
lunch. Please RSVP by May 15 to Sue Detrick skdetrick@
gmail.com, 799-0496 or Jan Johnson [email protected],
798-1288. If you are able to drive, please indicate the

Who wants to make a
Joyful Noise this summer?
There were lots of suggestions about worship music during
“Come Imagine”. To make them happen, we need singers
and instrumentalists who are willing to share their gifts by
making musical offerings to glorify God during worship.
Over the summer, we rely on volunteers to provide our
special worship music. Do you have a sacred musical piece
you would love to share or hear during summer worship?
Please express your interest to Lori Tozer, Director of Music
Ministries, at [email protected] ASAP before all of our
Summer Sundays are spoken for.
Today’s flowers are given to the glory of God in
honor of all women from Flossmoor Community
Church. After worship, our Deacon ministry will
deliver these flowers to one of our hospitalized or
homebound members.
