Re: 2015 Earthquake in Nepal.
Dear Sir/Madam:
Warm Greetings From Nepal Fencing Association.
We would like to inform you that on April 25 a massive earthquake in the 7.9 in the Richter
scale rocked Nepal and was followed by over 200 aftershocks. The devastating earthquake
which first struck at 11:55 am on Saturday ruined numerous houses, temples, historical building
and monuments, including UNESCO heritage site. Till date around more than 8,500 people lost
their lives, more than 15,000 people are injured and millions people were homeless.
In the meantime, we have lost some of our sports infrastructures, such as only two
International Standard Swimming Pools and only international Covered Hall are
completely useless.
The following administrative districts of Nepal have been badly affected by the terrible
earthquake:

USA, India, China, Malaysia, Korea, Japan, UK, Israel, Turkey, Russia, Indonesia and Several
International rescue team, with National Forces (Nepal Army, Nepal Police & Nepal Armed
Police) and volunteers are actively involved in the excavation, in order to search the buried
people. Various National and International NGOs, INGOs and NRN (Non Resident of Nepalese)
are contributing fund to relief the victims.
Most of the International & Continental Federations have assured to their respective National
Associations to support the people of the affected areas in order to bring them out from the
trauma and for the reconstruction & rehabilitation.
In this regard, few days ago, we have had meeting with Youth & Sport Ministry and the ministry
requested to all the National Federations to contribute and support for the rehabilitation and
reconstruction. We have decided to target to the children and youth in order to involve in
sports so that they can feel better and relief from the panic. We are looking forward to have
some sports equipment (fencing equipments) to practice them as well as financial support for
