In Memory of Sean Ding
Disclaimer: The FRC isn’t required to have a meeting at this time, all those reading the
minutes for serious information, you can either: abandon all hope now, or skip ahead
to the Arts Report.
Item 2. President’s Report
Dylan: For those who want to know, I’m currently having a quarter-pounder value
meal with a vanilla milkshake.
Dylan: You all know my feelings on it already, but IB went really well
Dylan: No one has been using the form lately, we've had a few requests and they’ve
all been attended to. The condoms in the bathroom have been refilled.
Dylan: Tom Berry has requested that power points be installed in the booths,
I've been talking to admin and at this stage it seems like a feasible project.
Dylan: This milkshake is really good. Whilst chocolate is the classic choice, I
recommend vanilla.
Dylan: Sean Ding quote of the week, in this most auspicious of locations, 'why is Jim
short for James, why isn't short for Jimothy?'
Sean Ding (via the magic of technology delivered unto us by Pat Sparks): I’d like
you all to know that I'm most displeased. I almost feel that you guys waited until I left
to do this.
Dylan: Everything in general is going pretty well.
Raqeeb hands over the minutes to Ee-Faye so he can eat a cheeseburger.
Dylan: Any questions for me?
Item 2. Sports Report by Patrick Sparks, Acting Sports Master
Patrick: I made the decision to move the meeting to McDonalds. It’s what Sean
would have wanted.
Patrick: First move as Acting Sports Master is to cut all sports and replace them with
Frisbee, Volleyball and Jungle Speed.
Motion seconded by Raqeeb
4 votes for
1 abstention
Motion passes
Patrick: We’ve sent through the payment for the 15 Frisbees to ANU Finance now
that the invoice was sorted out, Sean’s mad they haven’t given us the Frisbees yet.
Raqeeb: It’s fair enough they won’t give us the Frisbees since it’ll take about
two weeks for ANU Finance to transfer the money into the ANU Ultimate
Frisbee account.
Patrick: Basketball coaches have been confirmed!!!
Raqeeb: Who are they?
Patrick: Sachit Barooah, Monique Munro, Yoke Yeong and Alex Wareham
Dylan: Any questions for the acting Sports Master?
Dylan: I’d like to propose a motion, should I get more McDonalds?
Seconded by Ee Faye.
5 votes for.
Motion passes
Dylan leaves to order.
Ben is now Acting President.
Ben: First executive order is to demote Dylan to Social Master and promote Raqeeb
to Vice-President.
Seconded by Raqeeb.
4 votes for.
Motion passes.
Raqeeb advances onto a Big Mac.
Raqeeb: I’d like to propose a motion to replace the Social subcommittee with
Fenner Social Gaming.
Seconded by Ben
Patrick is onto dessert.
Dylan returns.
4 in favour, 1 abstention.
Motion passes.
Item 3. Fenner Social (Gaming) Report
Dylan: Before I begin my report
Raqeeb: Don’t I get to do the Fenner Social Gaming report?
Dylan: No, I’m Social Master now.
Dylan: Anyway - I would like to highlight the Fenner Wikipedia page. It's pretty dank.
Dylan: However, I have a motion regarding Wikipedia user JustChilling. I propose we
make him persona non grata at Fenner Hall for his continued resistance to the
Fenner Hall Wikipedia page. I don’t know who you are but you need to just let it
happen, mate.
Seconded by Patrick Sparks.
5 in favour. Motion passes.
PATRICK SPARKS STORYTIME
Patrick: I was with Raqeeb. Wikipedia gremlin sends me a message about why
Fenner Hall should remain a Wikipedia page. "Should it be deleted?"
Patrick: My response back was: No.
Dylan: Fenner Social Gaming: Gender Bender Bar night upcoming with Burgmann.
May have to cancel due to the lack of board games.
Dylan: "Things have been good ayy."
Dylan keeps looking behind him.
Ben: What are you looking for?
Dylan: I'm looking for my Big Mac!
Dylan: Still waiting for my Big Mac, pretty disappointing service. But perhaps if
we continue to consume depressing levels of food at this McDonalds they’ll
give us a sponsorship out of pity.
Patrick burps
Item 4. Arts Report
Ben: First things first, I'm demoting Lucie to Junior First Year Arts Rep for not attending
this meeting.
Dylan has disappeared.
Dylan returns.
Dylan: Turns out that my Big Mac was just sitting there. I retract all negative
statements I’ve said about Braddon McDonalds, it’s a fine establishment and I hope
they reconsider our sponsorship prospectus.
Ben: We won debating! This was a Tier III Arts event, which has placed Fenner at top
of the Arts shield.
Ben: We're very excited about all the other arts events upcoming: Big Night Out,
Dance Night, and the Spelling Bee.
Raqeeb: Big Night In?
Ben: Big Night In has been moved to 24th of April, Friday night. That'll go
ahead - Nick Campton-Smith has done a fantastic cocktail menu for that
evening.
Ben: I'm looking at having the Fenner stage set up in the courtyard, for the
band to perform on. If there's any issues, such as the surface being a bit
uneven, we'll just move the stage inside.
Ben: That would also save us from having to a letter-drop to Fenner’s
neighbours just informing them that we’ll be making some noise that night.
Ben: That's it for Arts.
Item 5. Treasurer/Secretary Report
Minutes being taken by Acting Sports Master, Patrick Sparks (holds up spork)
Raqeeb opens his choc sundae lid
Raqeeb: So our expenditure for the past fortnight, since we didn’t have a meeting
last week: We had IB expenditure – food supplies for Send-Off, End Point and
lunchboxes for Runners made in the first week.
Raqeeb: The IB jerseys for the runners came to $1331.50, each runner paid $15
to contribute to this cost, so the overall cost that the FRC bears for this item is
$911.50
Raqeeb: Overall IB expenditure was $9176.98, but comes closer to the $8,500
we budgeted for IB once we take into account income from the IB jersey copayment plus ISO reimbursement for Paddy Pallin rogaine.
Raqeeb: We’ll keep harassing ISO until they pay us back.
Raqeeb proceeds to death glare at no one in particular.
Raqeeb: I have emails where they stated what the agreed reimbursement
was ($35 per runner out of the allotted 40 people we don’t send to the Paddy
Pallin rogaine) and have also sent an email to the ISO treasurer.
Raqeeb: IB was $12 over budget due to last minute fuel subsidies we offered
to drivers that drove to End Point to help us ship the 49 residents we had back
to Fenner. (Pat Sparks note: As a result, Fenner Zumba will be cut.)
Raqeeb: $50 expenditure last week, significantly down from $2000 the week prior
Patrick Sparks: dat thrift
Raqeeb hasn't yet touched his sundae
Raqeeb: Clubs: Fenner Social Gaming Civil War is going quite well 10-20 people
rocking up daily.
Raqeeb: Last year, the prizes were two $50 vouchers, I’ve contacted the
Games Capital to see if they’re keen on offering us any deals this year – so
that’s why I haven’t confirmed the prizes for this year yet. But yes, there will be
a prize for the winner.
Ingelbrecht is now intrigued.
Raqeeb: We’re still trying to get Clare her money back for Fenner Green. The
Farmer’s Market dude sent an invoice implying that there was an outstanding
balance, even though Clare has paid $50.
Ee-Faye: We should tell people how to do invoices
Raqeeb: We shouldn't have to tell businesses how to do invoices #rekt #bantz
Raqeeb: We contributed $106 for B&G Social Mixer a couple of weeks ago. This was
the amount that all colleges attending the event contributed, and I think we got our
money’s worth since we had 125 residents attend. This amount covered the cost of
wristbands, food for the event etc.
Raqeeb: We’re awaiting an invoice from B&G but I’m not going to hassle
them since they’re the ones who should be following up with us.
Raqeeb: We’ll be contributing $55 for Burgmann bar night upcoming, to cover costs
of food and snacks at the event.
Raqeeb: The Warren Commission, next issue is in Week 8.
Silence as further comments from Raqeeb are expected
Raqeeb: I haven’t started on it yet.
Dylan: Any questions for Raqeeb?
Item 6. Advocacy
Dylan: I have one
Pat: Me too, and I think we have the same one...
Dylan: Double beef and bacons are off the dollar menu
Pat: Yeah that was mine too!
Raqeeb: A couple of related issues from me, M-Cizzle Johnson wants a list of
residents so that she can check who to invite to closed events such as interhall
mixers.
Dylan: We can’t give it out.
Raqeeb: Tying into that, but Nic Gillies wants to know whether there’s a formal
list of Associates, or somewhere that identifies his association with Fenner Hall
– in case it ever comes into question if he wanted to participate in Interhall
sport etc.
Dylan: I’ll follow that up with Jasmine. At this stage the "associates" just keep
doing their thing and we let them because we appreciate it.
Raqeeb: Could even just be a list of Associates that have been given access
to the building on their cards.
Dylan: Will follow up with admin regarding both lists.
Ben Ingelbrecht licks a soft serve with strong eye contact across the table from Pat.
Raqeeb's Sundae Sunday Report: 20% consumed
Dylan: For a slight departure from this farce, I’d like to say IB went really well. Send-off
was great- go Social-, people really got involved into the whole community spirit.
Dylan: It’s been said multiple times now by me and Admin, but thanks to everyone
involved – coaches, runners, sign-makers, Samitha. Especially from the FRC, the
drivers who came last minute for helping us take people back to Fenner when we
lost contact with the Fenner bus. Best IB ever.
Dylan: Also – Sean Ding. Gone but not forgotten. We will remember you.
