The new showroom is open and spacious (4,000 square feet),
but it is also intimate. The space is compartmentalized into specific
sections, including an incredible bridal area with an extraordinary selection of the classic styles and today’s hot trends, a new David Yurman
boutique, and a vast Rolex boutique that displays the full gamut of
timepieces made by this great brand. There are also private diamond
viewing rooms and seating areas where you can relax while your jewelry
is being cleaned or your timepiece serviced — or for when you simply
feel like taking a break. “We want everyone to feel relaxed and enjoy the
experience,” says Tommy.
Best of all, the entire expanded store (nearly 10,000 square feet)
gives Aucoin Hart Jewelers the opportunity to more than double the
amount of gorgeous hand-selected jewelry on display, including brands
such as Marco Bicego, Mikimoto and Penny Preville. There is also a
wide selection of exclusive Aucoin Hart jewelry designed and created
inside the Aucoin Hart workshop on Metairie Road. With a focus
on craftsmanship and quality, Aucoin Hart’s award-winning custom
jewelry business has grown exponentially
over the years as
well. Reflecting this is a new state-ofthe-art workshop, equipped with
CAD systems, casting equipment and much talent, allowing the store’s award-winning
artisans to produce exquisite
pieces from design to fruition. “We stand for quality
and craftsmanship. It’s important that we control the process from beginning to end,”
says Tommy. “Our
workshop gives us the
ability to be directly
involved in the designing, material selection,
hand picking of gemstones,
finishing and quality control.”

Hart reopened its doors just 29 days after the storm passed over the
city, and shortly thereafter made a further commitment to New Orleans
with its expansion plans. “There was a wonderful pulse and great
growth opportunity in New Orleans and we were committed to being
at the forefront of the recovery,” says Tommy of the family’s decision
to expand.
Today, customers hail from across the country, and the number of
new people stopping in at Aucoin Hart is growing daily. Local friends
make it a point to drop by frequently—“some weekly,” says Tommy
— to see what’s new, to chat with one of the nearly 50 staff members,
or to avail themselves of one of the many in-store services like jewelry
appraisal or design consultation.
Aucoin Hart has undergone many astonishing physical transforma-

abides. “The remodeling has only
reinforced our culture and philosophy and it is very exciting to
see our grandfather’s vision still

Team Up For Payton’s Play It Forward Foundation Benefit
The Aucoin Hart Foundation teamed up with New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton’s
Play It Forward Foundation for a fourth year to raffle a beautiful ladies Rolex watch with
100% of the proceeds benefiting families and children in need. The event took place at
Aucoin Hart Jewelers on September 21, 2013.
The Rolex watch, valued at $18,350, was a 31mm ladies stainless steel oyster perpetual

Prior to drawing the winning ticket, Coach Payton was at the store greeting fans and signing autographs
from 1 pm to 3 pm. Coach pulled the winning ticket at 3 pm. In addition, a Saints helmet autographed by Lance Moore and a framed lithograph named “A Fresh Breeze” by Rick Rush
signed by Coach Payton was also raffled. The New Orleans Saints’ Lombardi Trophy was
on display at Aucoin Hart during the event.
The line to meet Coach Payton started to form at 6 am, and was around the block by
the start of the event. The line moved
quickly, and the event went smoothly. Over 1,200 people showed up, and
$65,500 was raised for Payton’s Play It

both foundations has made a tremendous
impact to the Greater New Orleans area.
The Aucoin Hart Foundation has now

The tradition of the master jeweler is alive and well in

the case for
customization
The state-of-the-art workshop combines the timeless art
of creating hand-crafted jewelry with the perfect precision of
the latest technologies like CAD (Computer Aided Design
Software) and 3-D printing. “These innovations have helped immensely in parts of our manufacturing process,” says Ryan, “but the eyes and hands of a true master jeweler can never be
replaced. There is a certain refinement and finesse that’s obvious in a piece that’s handmade.”
The workshop has two main benefits to Aucoin Hart’s customers:
1) Quality of Craftsmanship and Design: “We have complete control of the process, from
conception to completion,” says Ryan. “We continually push ourselves to be better, to be new.
We have very high, very strict standards. There are no details too small. There are never any
shortcuts. We take great pride in the pieces we make and create.”
2) Price: “Since we are the manufacturer, there are no middlemen involved, no extra mark-ups.”
The workshop is a hub of activity and creative energy. At any one time, the shop may be
repairing a family’s treasured heirloom, finishing production on a series of corporate gifts, or
carefully placing the final touches on a one-of-a-kind diamond engagement ring.
By strictly controlling each step of the jewelry manufacturing process — from design, model
making, casting and finishing — Aucoin Hart is able to offer unique, exceptionally fine crafted
jewelry at extraordinary values.
Through each step, customers
are invited to follow the creation
of their Aucoin Hart jewelry.
“Watching a customer’s eyes
light up when they see their
special piece of jewelry come
to life,” says Ryan “that means
everything.”

Throughout history, pearls have been prized for their lustrous splendor. Allusions to their
power and intrigue may be found in a multitude of references, from Cleopatra to Fellini. But
it was Kokichi Mikimoto, with a wish to “adorn the necks of all women of the world with
pearls,” and the scientific mind to develop a technique for cultivating them, who changed
history. He made the coveted gem available to fashionable women everywhere, and his
technique, first discovered in 1893, is still in use today.

The unique style of Marco Bicego shines

S
Since the launch of his jewelry line in 2000, Marco Bicego
has become one of the most popular jewelry brands in
America, redefining the notion of luxury and what fine jewelry means to a new generation of jewelry lovers. Bicego’s
sensuous, beautiful jewelry blends old-world Italian hand
craftsmanship with fresh ideas, passion and imagination.
His pieces are exceptional enough to make a statement,
yet wearable and contemporary enough to wear every day.
This unique combination has attracted many modern and
cosmopolitan women to this artisan’s work.
“Our jewelry is meant to be worn every day, not saved
in the jewelry box for that ‘special occasion.’ I love seeing
how my clients interpret the Marco Bicego style, and how
they layer pieces,” he says.

Bicego began his training as a gold artisan at his father’s 50-yearold atelier in the Veneto region of Italy. His instincts were refined
at the workbench and led him to create unique, multi-textured
items that are both beautiful and highly original. He began to
experiment with design, blending urban-inspired lines with ethnic motifs and merging organic, natural forms with more classic
silhouettes. His dedication to old-world craftsmanship is always
evident on every surface of gold, transforming this luxurious element into spirals and hand-engraved beads. In his words; “All my
creations must be manipulated by hand in order for them to preserve a unique and luxurious experience.”
The new pieces in the Siviglia collection are Bicego’s latest interpretation
of this unique approach, and a perfect
example of one of the hottest trends in
jewelry at the moment — luscious drop
earrings. The statement aspect of these
earrings lies in the finish. The gold bears
the marks of Bicego’s particular hand-finishing technique of engraving. Before it
is hand finished, the 18k gold is created
with special forms to recall nature’s variable and irregular forms. The matching
Siviglia ring interprets another of today’s
top trends — wide open links in necklaces
and bracelets, and even watch bracelets.

The necklace in the Murano Link collection is an
updated version of the classic Bicego look, but with
faceted gemstones (rather than smooth cabochons) and open oval links. This necklace is convertible. It can be worn in many different ways,
including as a shorter necklace and a bracelet
or instead of one long necklace, it could be two
different bibs, two bracelets and two lariats.
Once again, Bicego has captured the sensibility of
the modern woman, creating pieces that are as appropriate
for the daytime as they are for the evening, even if the evening
involves a quiet respite of gazing at the stars.

The world of Rolex is all about performance and aesthetics. The
company uses high-grade 904L steel in its watches, which is much
harder than the industry standard (Rolex designed its own tools
to work with it) and manufactures its own ceramic bezels. And of
course, Rolex builds its own mechanical movements. The result is
a collection of watches engineered for performance and designed
to stand the test of time.
Rolex is also about celebrating the performances of others. Many of the world’s top
athletes have served or currently serve as Rolex
ambassadors, and the brand is associated with
some of the world’s key sporting events, including Wimbledon Tennis, the US Open Golf
Championship and Formula 1 racing. In the
equestrian world, the company is sponsor of the
Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping: CHIO
Aachen, the CSIO Spruce Meadows Masters
Tournament and CHI Geneva. It is also sponsor
of several yachting events, including the Maxi
Yacht Rolex Cup and the Rolex Swan Cup,
both off the coast of Sardinia, the Rolex Fastnet
Race in the Celtic Sea and the Rolex Sydney
Hobart Yacht Race in Australia.

The Oyster Perpetual GMT Master II is another important new introduction, in
904L steel, a proprietary Rolex high-grade steel, with a rotating bezel that represents
a first: it is made of a two-color ceramic Cerachrom bezel insert in blue and black representing day and night. The two colors are perfectly melded together, with no visible
seam between the two, by a unique process developed and patented by Rolex which
allows this ceramic component with two distinct colors to be produced as a single
piece. Cerachrom is scratch-proof, corrosion-resistant and color-fast. The movement,
made by Rolex, has a Parachrom hairspring patented and manufactured by Rolex in
an exclusive alloy. Insensitive to magnetic fields, the Parachrom hairspring offers great
stability when exposed to temperature variations and remains up to 10 times more
precise in case of shocks than a traditional hairspring.
Ladies’ watches are also an important part of the world of Rolex. This
year, female aficionados are raving about the brand’s new mid-size
watches, with cases measuring just 31mm — a size that sits
comfortably on a woman’s wrist. Winners in this new mid-size
range include the 31mm Oyster Perpetual Lady Datejust
in steel and rose gold. Rose gold has become the new,
modern standard in both jewelry and watches now, and
Rolex’s unique combination of steel and Everose gold
gives this watch a special functional versatility. It is

Another great choice is the 31mm steel Oyster

FANCY YELLOW DIAMONDS
Natural colored diamonds are rare and therefore unique, which means
jewelry containing them makes a unique statement. Yellow diamonds,
like their white (colorless) counterparts, are the hardest of all gemstones,
and therefore reflect light with a brilliance that outshines all others.
The most readily available natural colored diamonds on the market are
champagnes, cognacs and yellows, yet even these are rare: for every
colored diamond found, there are at least 10,000 colorless ones.

ROSE GOLD
The top trend in gold today is rose gold, a soft peachy tone that flatters almost every complexion. Rose gold comes from blending gold with copper.
Popular in Russia at the beginning of the 19th century, for a long time it
was referred to as “Russian gold.” Rose gold is perfect to mix and match
with any other metals, from yellow gold to white metals like platinum
and silver, or even blackened metals. It amps up the feminine factor
3
and softens even the edgiest of designs.
STACKS AND LAYERS
Many of today’s bracelets, rings and necklaces, are designed to be worn
either alone or in multiples. A stack of bangles, all set with different colored
stones or in different colors of gold adds a three-dimensional richness to your jewelry. Three or four rings stacked together, each with narrow shanks, allowing the center
stones to align randomly, is both glamorous and fun. You can add something new every year,
from a thin band of micropavé to a thicker eternity band.

to simply finding new ways to express your

splash of color in jewelry can add pop to neutral
fashion looks, and pairing opposites on the color

Bold, refreshing color continues to rock fashion runways for fall, from New York
to London, Paris to Milan. Among the standout design directions are: romantic
textiles, novelty fabrics, inky paisley prints and brocades; over-sized and structured designs; nature, including its opulence and its dark side; early 20th
century art movements like Dada and Bauhaus; ’60s mod and ’90s grunge.
Jewelry on the runways is embracing statement neckwear in collars from
futuristic and edgy to romantic and ornate. There were long necklaces
with dangling tassels and talismans, and colossal cuffs and chain bracelets.
Earrings were chandelier-style using chains, crystals or beads, as well as
hoops and crosses. Key design directions celebrate retakes on timeless

Color Institute including three shades. Emerald, Pantone’s Color of the Year
for 2013, is a powerful, universally appealing tone. Emerald tops the list
of gems that complement this trend, but other green gem options include
demantoid and tsavorite garnets, chrome diopside, tourmaline and jade.
Also popular is deep lichen green, somewhere
between army green and khaki, with gray undertone. Perfect gems to help add a pop of this color to
your wardrobe include green sapphire, tourmaline,
agate, quartz and moonstone. Linden green, which
is lighter, can be conveyed with peridot, chrysoberyl,
chrysoprase, quartz or agate.
“Green is the most abundant hue in nature. The human eye sees more
green than any other color in the spectrum,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, global authority on color. “The
prevalence of green has been steadily rising for several seasons, especially in
the fashion and couture markets and on the red carpet.”

“The fall palette creates moods from sophisticated and structured to
lively and vivid, encapsulating our inherent need for wardrobe

While the emphasis may be on your spouse’s engagement/wedding rings, it’s still important that your
wedding ring express not only your commitment but
your personality. Some couples get matching wedding
bands, others select individual styles that suit them
best. Thankfully, now there are nearly as many selections of men’s wedding bands available as women’s:
from traditional 18k gold, platinum or palladium versions to contemporary metals, such as cobalt, titanium
and tungsten carbide.

2. Cufflinks
Since a hallmark of any professional gentleman’s wardrobe is a French cuff dress
shirt, naturally cufflinks are a necessity. But just because they are a necessity,
cufflinks don’t need to be staid or corporate. They now provide a chance to be
creative. For the office, usually your style should fall somewhere in between: a
look expressive enough to show off your personal style, but without the glitz. If
you are like an increasing number of men who don French cuff shirts, even for
casual wear, there’s ample opportunity to experiment with cufflinks.

3. Dress Set
This is the gentleman’s version of red-carpet jewelry: a cufflink and stud set to be worn for formal and state occasions.
When a man wears a tuxedo, he has few other accessory
options, save for his dress set, which is why plenty of thought
should be given to them. Typically, the cufflinks and usually four matching studs are sold as a dress set, but they can
often be purchased separately. If you have a favorite pair of
cufflinks, why not find studs that complement your cufflinks
rather than match them exactly?

4. Dress Watch
Whether you work on Wall Street or Main Street, the sign
of a professional man is often his power suit and his wristwatch. A dress-for-success look is even more important
due to today’s competitive job market. Having the right
look in your watch is just as important as the right fit in
your jacket. The latest trend in dress watches is a slimmer
approach to the watch case, allowing for your French cuff
shirt to glide above. Dials are simpler and more straightforward: three hands, a day/date window and maybe a
power reserve indicator. Straps are more desirable than

bracelets, especially in fine exotic skins and leathers.
5. Sports Watch
Even for a man whose biggest physical exertion for the day is channel surfing, sports watches
are something of a badge of masculinity. They’re the sports cars of your jewelry wardrobe.
Equipped with functions such as a chronograph, tachymeter, alarm, regatta countdown,
slide rule etc., sport watches are truly instruments that athletes, pilots, racers and boaters
use. Best of all, they just look cool. Much of their design inspiration (and often materials,
too) are based upon actual cars, planes or boats. From all-black, stealth versions to colorful
nautical inspired styles, sports watches deserve
a spot in your jewelry chest.

6. Link Bracelet
A couple of generations ago, an ID link bracelet was one of
the most popular pieces of men’s jewelry. Bracelets remain
a favorite for men, but at dimensions that are a far cry from
those in your grandfather’s jewelry chest. Just as watches
have increased in size, so have the size of links in men’s
bracelets. Which makes sense given that bracelets are often
worn on the opposite hand from those bold timepieces.
Bracelet styles today are truly sculptural works of art; many
have intricately carved links and may utilize a mixture of
metals or other materials.

Even in an enduring category like diamond engagement rings, trends evolve to
ensure that classic doesn’t become boring. Here are six of the freshest new takes
on the traditional engagement ring for brides that want something unique.
Cushion
Round diamonds will always be popular, but today’s bride who wants
something a bit more distinctive may choose an alternative, such as the
cushion. For brides who like the vintage look but not the rectangular emerald cut, the softly rounded cushion cut is perfect. Its large facets give it a
soft glow. The cut was invented before the advent of electricity, when rooms
were lit by candlelight, and it’s designed to capture the candle’s glow.
Floral
Floral and leaf motifs are delicate, feminine, and always in fashion. This
classic motif now extends to bridal jewelry. It dovetails with another trend
for modern settings: split and twisted shanks, meaning there’s some interesting design along the sides, not just at the top of the ring. The shank of a
ring, as it hugs your finger like a vine, adds dimension and movement to an
engagement ring — and sets the scene for the placement of more sparkling
diamonds.

Forevermark Diamonds
Forevermark diamonds are the hottest thing in customized
jewelry. They represent the top 1% of diamonds in the world
and are branded by the De Beers group of companies, the
world’s largest diamond mining organization. Forevermark
bridal jewelry made by Aucoin Hart is customized in two
ways: the design is chosen by the customer; and the diamond
is chosen, also by the customer, from a selection of spectacular Forevermark diamonds. It’s the best of both worlds.
Halo
The halo setting is one of the biggest trends for engagement rings in years. A band of smaller diamonds,
i.e. the halo, surrounding the solitaire give it a look
of being a much bigger center stone. Sometimes, the
halo goes two-tiered, often teaming up diamonds
with a row of colored gems in one of the surrounding
rings. Brides who like the look of a cushion cut but
prefer the scintillation of a round diamond opt for a
round stone in a cushion-shaped halo.

The right jewelry for the
big day
Here’s some advice you won’t hear in a bridal shop:
invest in a good piece of jewelry for your wedding day!
F
For most brides, the hunt for The Dress begins barely a moment after “yes,” if not before.
Rare is the bride-to-be that hasn’t already given at least some thought to the style of dress she
wants for her big day, if she hasn’t been envisioning it since kindergarten!
Despite this focus, it should not overshadow the importance of jewelry on the big day. Don’t
skimp on wedding day jewelry. The dress will be worn once, but jewelry is a family heirloom
that can be worn not only for the bride’s whole life, but also by future generations.
Whether your taste runs to classic pearls or something more dramatic, remember that wedding day jewelry should always complement face, hair and dress, never compete with it.
“Everything needs to stay in proportion,” says fashion expert and celebrity stylist Michael
O’Connor, who’s helped many movie stars choose jewelry for red carpet appearances. The

bride’s face shape and hairstyle should be considered first. Big hair — whether it’s full or long
— needs a bigger earring, but make sure the shape of the earring doesn’t directly mirror the
shape of the face.
Brides seeking an elongated silhouette (and who isn’t?) should opt for a 1.5 to 2.5-inch drop
earring, says Amanda Gizzi, head of the Jewelry Information Center in New York. The earring’s
length will bring attention up to her face. A classic drop can make the face look slimmer, while
a wider drop style, such as a chandelier or doorknocker, can balance out a long face.

Color is a hot trend for
weddings, from flowers
to cakes and even the
bride’s dress!
Too dainty is passé, but a big earring, a statement necklace,
or an armful of bangles is on trend. Gizzi says the key to getting
the look right is to pick one statement piece and don’t overdo
the rest. “A bride should err on the side of restraint. It’s a more
refined, elegant look,” says O’Connor. “The bride is already the
star of the day, don’t gild the lily.”
He suggests creatively placing a piece of jewelry in the hair,
because while many brides dream of wearing a diamond tiara,

not many can afford one. Likewise, a beautiful diamond brooch
is not only in proportion with a long dress or big hair, but also
something that can be worn and handed down years later. A
word of caution: if you amp up the hair jewelry and earrings,

promise
Looking for the best diamonds in the world? Look no further than a
dazzling Forevermark piece from Aucoin Hart Jewelers.
N
No two diamonds are ever exactly the same, but each Forevermark diamond comes
with a promise that is the same for every one: it promises to be beautiful, rare, and
responsibly sourced.
Forevermark is a diamond brand from the De Beers group of companies, the
world’s largest diamond mining organization and the largest distributor of diamonds.
Forevermark jewelry made by Aucoin Hart is customized in two ways: the design is
chosen by the customer; and the diamond is chosen by the customer from a selection
of spectacular Forevermark diamonds.
Forevermark diamonds are the most carefully selected diamonds in the world.
Experts at the Forevermark Diamond Institute in Antwerp carefully inspect each one
to assess its eligibility to be included in the brand. The Forevermark diamond must
have the following qualities:
• It must be 14 points or larger (there are 100 points in a carat).
• It must be cut to a standard of Very Good, according to the American Gem Society
grading scale.
• It must be L color or above (on a scale from D to Z).
• And it must have a clarity value of SI or above — there are 11 clarity grades for
diamonds: Flawless (FL), Internally Flawless (IF), Very, Very Slightly Included (VVS1
and VVS2), Very Slightly Included (VS1 and VS2), Slightly Included (SI1 and SI2),
and Included (I1, I2 and I3).

Forevermark diamonds are the rarest in the world. Only 1% of the diamonds mined
meet the standards. The diamonds are assessed by experts at every stage of their journey.
Once they arrive at the Forevermark Diamond Institute in Antwerp for inscription, they
are further reviewed, and between 5% and 10% are rejected for not meeting quality
standards. Each selected diamond is then inscribed on the table facet with a Forevermark
icon and unique identification number using highly advanced proprietary technology.
They are sold only through authorized Forevermark jewelers.

The brand also offers the promise of integ-
rity. Forevermark diamonds are guaranteed to be
responsibly sourced, according to the principles
of the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme
(KPCS). The KPCS was jointly established
by governments, the diamond industry and
NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations)
to stem the sale of rough diamonds that
are used to finance devastating conflicts
in countries such as Angola, Sierra Leone,
Cote d’Ivoire, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Every Forevermark diamond is sourced in accordance with the KPCS guidelines from a small number
of carefully selected mines that are committed to the highest business, social, and
environmental standards. They benefit the people, communities, and countries from
which they originate.
Each Aucoin Hart/Forevermark diamond is identifiable by a tiny trademark
that is inscribed in the table, or top, of each diamond. This mark is so
small — 1/5000th of a hair — that it can only be seen through a special
Forevermark viewer, and because of the proprietary technology used to
inscribe the mark, it is impossible to alter or duplicate it.
“This is a feel-good brand,” says Adelaide Polk-Bauman, of
Forevermark. “Not only are they the highest quality
diamonds in the world, De Beers guarantees the integrity of their source.”
