Grade 1 Home , The month of august has been a very special month for the PYP. The children have gained a broad exposure to many different areas of science including a initial understanding of various other concepts. We have started up with 5 notebooks for English so that the children are thorough in all the concepts. These 5 books include story book, essay writing, handwriting, letter writing and grammar..we have started implementing various reading programs for the kids so that each and every child becomes a perfect reader.... You can encourage your child to work on his/her handwriting by making his/her practice in a fun way. Offer your child a special pencil or a rainbow of colored ones. Don’t just give him/her a word to copy. Try simple word puzzles, anagrams and a game of hangman or ask her/him to brainstorm lists around a theme to give writing practice purposeful. Make time every day to talk with your child about the day’s activities. Encourage them to think and reflect on their own learning. Help them to do research by themselves to create an inquiring mind. Most of the game stalls were about English grammar and one stall on Hindi grammar and ICT grammar games. We learnt much more about grammar as it was very educational. Every class prepared lots of information in their own stalls. Every class had selected their own grammar topic and prepared magnificent game on it. Some stalls also had more than one game. Every game stall had prizes for winners, stickers of starts and smileys. There was a mini library arranged for students to visit and explore related books. All the students had done a marvelous job. We appreciated all the student leaders and our dear teachers for the great and successful grammar journey. An informative in school visit to the library will help us boost our thinking skills We can do it! Learning the importance of exercise in our life… READING HABIT NESISM inspires lots of readiness learning and fun activities and one of the best ones is “Reading program” Why is reading to your child so important? Because reading is great exercise for brains and helps to develop their minds. Young children first learn by experience and moving, then by watching and listening. When children arrive at school they add reading to the ways that they learn. By sharing books with them at home, parents and caregivers are rewiring the brain to learn by reading. Children grow large vocabularies by listening to books and expand their understanding and use of language. As Grade1 is the base which lays the strong foundation and in order to enhance their reading skills we have introduced following methodsReading Buddies- The students from higher grades (MYP) help and guide them in reading. DEAR- Many different reading strategies are used to enhance their reading during their DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) lecture. Online Reading- Students enjoy reading sessions through online story books. Reading Booklet- Every week a reading booklet is issued to the students to give more practice and be good readers. Reading Bags- Every Friday a child carries a reading bag with a book from the class library and gives the book review of the same. Scholar Cards- Scholar cards are issued to motivate and inculcate reading habits in students. New Introductions: Apart from this we would like to introduce – “Parent- Student Readers Academy” wherein one of the parents will be invited to read out the book to the students. “Reading Notes”- Let’s try a unique way to make reading so exciting that children actually look forward to it every day. We have found a solution…reading notes! By secretly putting a note in your child’s communication book, you are doing so much more than simply reminding them that you care by writing just a small one liner in it. You are encouraging your child to read while filling the school day with encouragement. Reading notes are fun, educational, positive, and motivational! Caption- This is how we make choice for toys, clothes and food.
