ACECQA Position Description Position Title Communications Officer Reports to Group Strategy, Communications & Team Engagement Manager Communications Media & Communications Classification ACECQA Band 2.1 Direct reports Nil Hours / FTE PD ID No: PDSCE015 38 hours per week Purpose of the role The Communications Officer is responsible for sourcing, writing and editing content for a range of communication channels. The Communications Officer will help build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders through stakeholder engagement and communication strategies and event planning and management, as well as assisting with the ongoing implementation of ACECQA’s stakeholder contact management system. The Communications Officer is responsible for carrying out a range of administrative tasks including daily media monitoring and assisting with internal reporting requirements. About the Strategy, Communications & Engagement Group The Strategy, Communications and Engagement group comprises teams and employees with the following major functions: • engagement with stakeholders including governments, regulatory authorities and the children’s education and care sector • communication strategies including major presentations and conferences, inbound and outbound sponsorship, media and social media, web content and design, newsletters and other mass communications, internal communication • responding to enquiries from the wider community with a dedicated customer service unit • strategic and operational policy development and advice for the regulation of education and care service providers under the NQF, including research and evaluation. About the Media & Communications Team The Media and Communications team deals with media and social media, web content and design, the newsletter and other mass communications, internal communication, formal stakeholder engagement, major presentations and conference appearances, inbound and outbound sponsorship, and responding to enquiries from the wider community through a dedicated customer service unit. Key Duties Source, develop, write and edit a range of communications, including media releases, editorial pieces, newsletters and other content to promote the work of ACECQA to the sector and the community Deliver and maintain web-based information including the website, news service, email newsletters and social media Assist with the coordination and management of stakeholder forums, meetings and special events Report on news, social media, web activity and stakeholder engagement forums, meetings and special events Provide daily media monitoring on a rotational basis Assist with internal reporting requirements, including contributing to papers for the Board and working groups Support the Media and Communications team in the development, implementation and evaluation of stakeholder engagement and communication strategies and public information campaigns Participate in meetings with key stakeholders and assist with maintaining communication protocols between state/territory agencies and ACECQA Provide support across the Media and Communications Team and Strategy, Communications & Engagement group. Selection Criteria 1. Demonstrated skills in sourcing, writing and editing communication materials for a range 2. 3. 4. 5. of channels, including print and online media Proven experience in stakeholder engagement activities such as community consultation and/or event management Experience with, or the ability to quickly learn, web content management systems, electronic marketing software and desktop publishing applications Capacity to operate both independently, using initiative and self-direction, and as a team member to produce consistently high quality work and meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including demonstrated ability to tailor communication to a variety of audiences. Pre-Requisite 1. Tertiary qualification/s in a discipline such as communications or marketing or relevant experience.
