Transferring From Old to New Servers with
SOLIDWORKS Workgroup PDM
All the SOLIDWORKS Workgroup PDM Vault settings are stored within the Vault
folder. Therefore, when the Vault folder is moved to a new server, the settings will be
maintained.
Stop the SOLIDWORKS Workgroup PDM service on the old server.
Create a backup of the vault data folder on a flash drive or portable device.
Then copy the vault data folder to the new location or server.
Install the SOLIDWORKS Workgroup PDM Server on the new server and during the install,
when given the option for where the vault data will be installed, browse to the copied
vault location.
This will use the existing data instead of installing a new vault.
The service will start after installation and the vault will be running in the new location.
IMPORTANT: The Clients will need to change the name of the vault server in the login
window during the first login. Once they have done that it will not be required again.
