Weitzner Introduces the Melodia Collection
SEPTEMBER 2013 (NEW YORK, NY) - This fall, Weitzner introduces Melodia, a collection of wallcoverings
inspired by the tones and chords of classical and contemporary sound. This season’s range includes textured
handmade offerings, sophisticated paper backed textiles, and Weitzner’s latest in Clean Vinyl Technology. This
voyage through texture and finish includes nine stunning designs that offer options for many different project
styles.
TIMBRE
One of the newest additions to the Weitzner handmade collection is Timbre, a rustic, yet sophisticated
wallcovering that is made in Thailand with actual bark. Available in two colors, natural and white, Timbre will
add spirit to any space.
ELLIPSIS
Ellipsis (shown right in silver), a double-layered handmade item, was inspired by the
complex pattern of a honeycomb. Ellipsis provides a contemporary presence to any
space, whether applied to a single wall or under glass. This textured, dimensional
panel is available in two neutral, two-toned colorways.
SONNET
With the success of Weitzner’s handmade panels, Sonnet offers a distilled,
openwork lattice inspired by both geometry and patterns in nature.
Available in gold and white, Sonnet is an outstanding handmade wallcovering
that is full of motion and character.
LEGATO
The next item in Melodia is the Japanese-made wallcovering, Legato. Available in five colors, this ornate yet
distilled design is warp printed with metallic pigment to add subtle sheen.
ARIA
Aria (shown left) a sophisticated Japanese-made wallcovering, is created
by laminating a woven fabric on a colored paper, creating a unique, two-toned
effect. The finished product, offered in four nuanced shades, provides an elegant
wallcovering with presence.
AYA
A modern take on a classic grasscloth, Aya, is hand- woven with a blend of
colored yarn and natural abaca, or banana fiber. Available in five subtle tones,
this natural texture is a special take on a popular quality.
modern design aesthetic.
RHYME
Rhyme is a paper backed textile available in three cool colors, well suited to a

GALENA & VESTIGE
Rounding out the Melodia Collection are two absolute stunners, both contributing to Weitzner’s latest in
Clean Vinyl Technology. Galena captures the lush patina and alluring sheen of distressed metal and is
offered in twelve metallic tones. The subtle irregularity of hand-woven abaca is emulated in Clean Vinyl
Technology to create the delicate texture of Vestige, available in twelve nature-inspired shades.
The Melodia Collection from Weitzner is available in the Pollack | Weitzner flagship showroom in
Manhattan’s famed Decoration and Design Building as well as in fine showrooms throughout the United
States, Canada, United Kingdom, Asia, Australia and the Middle East. For showroom information, please

ABOUT...
L o r i We i t z n e r ’ s path to creativity has always
been clearly marked. Childhood signposts included constant
sketching and painting… sneaking a gentle touch of sculpture
(for inspiration) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in
New York during Saturday visits with her father… family
travels abroad (when everyone else was going to Florida and
getting a tan!)… acceptance into the art program at
Syracuse University… and the professor there who redirected
her efforts from fine arts to textiles.
“I never would have made it into a gallery,” she now says.
After graduation (BFA in Textiles from Syracuse University ’83),
professionally the journey became a bit more interesting. A job which left her yearning for
more led to travels in Europe, which led to free-lance in Milan, eventually selling her
designs to companies including Missoni. Travels to Zurich were met with the same success
and a long-term contact with a client there. Returning to New York, her creativity focused
on packaging and product design, linking her name with Estee Lauder, Calvin Klein and
Dansk.
Her big break into textiles in the US market came with a call from Jack Lenor Larsen, and
with it the opportunity to independently design collections for him which bore her name.
Her collaboration with Germany’s renowned Sahco from 2000 to 2012 garnered her
designs broader recognition in the international interiors market. In 2004 Lori introduced
Weitzner Limited, offering innovative wallcoverings, to a world-wide market. Then in 2011
she joined forces with Pollack, an internationally known textile company.
2012 saw the launch of her own textile collection, “Vernissage” under the Weitzner
brand, through which she maintains her commitment to creating exceptional design that is
in line with the human spirit.
Weitzner’s fabrics and wallcoverings grace celebrity homes
including those of Julianne Moore and Will Ferrell, and often
used for costumes and sets for motion picture films such as
“Gangs of New York” and “Mission Impossible.” Her designs also
enhance numerous public spaces - most notably the glamorous
Four Seasons Hotels and headquarters of Google in New York.
Her work is housed in the permanent collections of museums
such as Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Montreal, Victoria
and Albert in London, and the Cooper-Hewitt in New York
City. She is the recipient of multiple design awards, including a
nomination for the Chrysler Innovation award and travels the
globe lecturing on engaging the senses in design.

Lori and her work have been
featured in publications such
as Architectural Digest, Elle Decor,
Interior Design, World of Interiors,
Veranda, House Beautiful,
Traditional Home, Luxe, House
& Garden (UK), The New York
Times, and The Los Angeles
Times as well as on the Today
Show and the popular design
blog Apartment Therapy.
