INVITATION
The Southport Yacht Club Hollywell Sailing Squadron extends a warm invitation to all owners, lady skippers and
crews of all eligible classes to enter and compete in the 24th Annual Telemachus Jewellery Ladies Day Race,
sailed on the Gold Coast Broadwater on Saturday 16th May 2015.

ORGANISING AUTHORITY
The Organising Authority will be Southport Yacht Club Inc. (SYC) located at Macarthur Parade, Main Beach, Qld

ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
2.2.
All boats shall be listed on the register of vessels of a Sailing Club affiliated with Yachting Australia and shall be
entered by a person-in-charge who is a member of a Sailing Club affiliated with Yachting Australia.
2.3.
The Race is open to monohull and multi-hull trailable boats and monohull and multi-hull yachts constructed to be
resistant to capsize (in accordance with YA Special Regulations Part 1 Section 1.03) which comply with YA
Special Regulations Part 1 Category 6; and boats of the International Etchells class which comply with their class
Safety Regulations. All boats shall have a minimum length overall of 16 feet.
2.4.
Eligible boats may enter on the Entry Form, attached to this Notice of Race as Appendix A, which shall be lodged
with the SYC Hollywell Sailing Squadron Office before Friday 15th May 2015, accompanied by the $25 entry fee.
The series will be governed by the current rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS)
The Special Regulations of Yachting Australia (YA)
The relevant Class Rules (as applicable), except those which are altered by the Sailing Instructions.
All boats shall be helmed by a female member of the crew at all times while racing. An owner
/representative shall be a member of a Sailing Club and an affiliated member of Yachting Australia. If any
male member of the crew takes the helm of a boat at any time while racing, they shall retire.

2.5.
All boats shall hold a current Public Liability and Third Party Insurance Policy to the value of not less than
AUD$5Million which includes coverage for racing in the event.
2.6.
There will be provisions for one Monohull and one Multihull division, with a minimum of Five (5) entries required to
constitute a division. Subdivisions may be made at the absolute discretion of the Race Committee and subject to
the number of entries received.
2.7.
A boat shall not change specifications after the close of entries. Any change to the hull, spars, sails, foils,
appendages, ballast, equipment or any other factor which may affect the performance of the boat may be made
only with the express written consent of the Race Committee. Substitution of damaged or lost equipment will not
be allowed unless approved by the Race Committee. Requests for substitution shall be made to the Committee at
the first reasonable opportunity.

REGATTA SITE
The Regatta will be conducted from Southport Yacht Club Hollywell Sailing Squadron, 1 Marina Crescent,

RACING AREA
The racing area shall be the Broadwater, between the Gold Coast Seaway and the entrance to the Coomera
River.

COURSES
The course shall be a Passage Race configuration, as described at the briefing.
9.
HANDICAPPING
Results will be based on a Performance Handicap System (PHS) Time Correction Factor (TCF). The TCF will be
allocated by the Race Committee or its nominee, will be performance-based, will be expressed as four (4)
decimal places applied as a multiplier to elapsed times, and will not be subject to protest, redress or dispute.

The Low Point Scoring System, Appendix A2 will apply.

PRIZES

The Overall First Place Winner of the 2015 Telemachus Jewellery Ladies Day Race will be presented with the
Telemachus Jewellery Ladies Day Race Perpetual Trophy at the annual Yachties Presentation Night, held at
Southport Yacht Club Main Beach on Saturday 20th June 2015.

FURTHER INFORMATION
Prizes will be awarded to First, Second, Third on Handicap; to the boat with the Fastest Elapsed Time; and to
“The Best Dressed Boat”. Other Prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the Race Committee.

DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in Southport Yacht Club events entirely at their own risk. See Rule 4 (Decision to Race).
The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in
conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
