Thisisthe8thAnnualSummerStudiosponsoredbyFireArtsInc.Thissummer experienceisavailabletohighschoolstudents whowillbeJuniorsorSeniorsinthecomingschoolyear(2015/16).2015 graduatesarealsoeligible. SummerStudioismentoredbyYvonneDesrosiers,aFireArts foundingpotterandsculptor.Alongwithbeingapracticingartist foroverfourdecades,shehadtaughthighschoolartfor35years. Yvonnestillremembers,asahighschoolstudent,theagonyof havingtoleavethehighschoolstudioduringsummerbreak.Itis herdesiretogivetalentedanddrivenart studentstheopportunitytowork independentlywithintheguidingshadowof theFireArts’professionalartists. SummerStudioformallymeetseach WednesdayandFridayafternoonfrom 12:00‐2:00pm,beginningJune17thuntil August12th.Additionalopenstudiotime willbeavailableimmediatelyaftereach sessionuntil4:00pm,aswellason TuesdayandThursdayfrom12:00‐5:00pmandSaturdays from12:00to4:00pm.IfyoumustmissaWednesdayorFridayclass,youareexpectedtomakeupthe timeduringtheseopenstudiotimes.Wehavepotter’swheels,kilns,aclayextruder,slabrollerand workingspacesthatfacilitatepotteryandsculptureproduction.Inthepast,wehaveoccasionallyoffered theopportunitytodoasmallbronzecasting.Iftheopportunitypresentsitself,additionalfeeswillbe requiredtomakeasmallbronzesculpture. FireArtsInc.isa401c3federalnon‐profitwhosemissionincludesprovidingeducationalopportunitiesbaseduponthethree‐dimensionalartsforpeopleof theMichianaarea.FireArtswasestablishedoversixyearsago.Ourbuildingwasontherosterfordemolitionbythecity.Wereachedanagreementwiththe citytorehabilitatethebuildingandformastudiospaceandnon‐profit.Inthepastnineyears,wehavesteadilyimprovedourbuilding,equipmentand offerings.Wehavebecomeahubforartisticactivitiesandhaveproudlytakenownershipoftheproperty.Thecombinedhelpofourmemberartists,public donations,thecityofSouthBend,localentrepreneurDavidMatthewsandvariousgrantshavehelpedusgetthisfar.WearelocatedontheEastSideoftheSt. JosephRiverat305 E. Itisyourresponsibilitytopickupyourworkattheconclusionoftheshow.Oncetheshowhasclosed,if yourworkisleftforovertwomonths,itwillbeconsideredabandonedandthereforeisrelinquishedto FireArtsInc.todisposeaccordingly.
