2015 First Pres Women’s Retreat While they were talking and discussing, Jesus himself came near and went with them, but their eyes were kept from recognizing him. And he said to them, ‘What are you discussing with each other while you walk along?’ Luke 24:15-17 Address Service Requested 1432 Washtenaw Avenue Ann Arbor, MI 48104 Pilgrimage: The Sacred Journey of Ordinary Life Friday, April 24, 7:00 p.m. to Saturday April 25, 4:00 p.m. Maumee Bay Lodge - Oregon, Ohio Register online at www.firstpresbyterian.org Women of all ages gather one weekend a year for 24 hours of friendship, faith, and fun at scenic Maumee Bay Lodge in Oregon, Ohio. If this is your first retreat, know that this is a weekend to relax with sisters in Christ, re-energize through worship and study, and experience God working in your heart and in your life. Pilgrimage: The Sacred Journey of Ordinary Life Why does the idea of pilgrimage speak to us? What is it about the journey that calls to us? Some of us are led to take an actual spiritual pilgrimage to a place, but others can find the deeper meaning of the spiritual journey in all aspects of life - even in the ordinary everyday moments. At this retreat, we will explore the literal and metaphorical meaning of pilgrimage, and how to draw courage and strength from this idea of journey no matter where we find ourselves and what might be ahead of us. As Jesus was with the disciples on the Road to Emmaus, where is Jesus with us on our journey? To what pilgrimages is Jesus leading us even now? Facilitators: • Rev. Karen Ferguson Carl Ness, formerly of Kirk in the Hills PC, First Pres Wilmatte, Illinois, and the Presbytery of Detroit • Rev. Melissa Anne Rogers, Associate Pastor, First Pres, Ann Arbor • Workshop leaders and facilitators include Rev. Lois Colon, Rev. Kristin Riegel, Sandy Talbott, Carol Gottliebsen, Kathy Wirstrom, Susan Reynolds and others. Workshops: • How Do I Take an Actual Pilgrimage? • The Pilgrimage of Worship • Journaling the Journey • How to Walk the Camino • Pilgrimage Spirituality • Point me to Iona!
