Minutes: March 5, 2015

Also Present: Barbara A. Kopplin, Library Director
Absent: Jodee Craven and R. Michael Scanlan
Call to Order: President, Jacqueline Dickow called the Special Session meeting to order
at 7:04pm in the Conference Room of the Library.
Minutes: Mrs. Sevedge moved to approve the minutes of the February 26, 2015 Special
Session meeting as presented. Miss Mayes seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Unfinished Business:
The Board discussed the sample job notices in the Director Search packet that was passed
out at the February 19th Board Meeting and the salary sheet presented last week as they
discussed what to include in the job notice for the position of Library Director. After much
discussion Mrs. Merema moved that the following notice be sent to each Board Member for
final review and then posted on the RAILS and Heartland Job Notice sites and the Library’s
website as close to March 9, 2015 as the IT firm can complete the work.

Position Description:
The Library Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Library operations:
planning, budgeting, policy recommendations, grant writing, supervision of staff,
technology planning and implementation, collection development, overseeing the
library building, and effective communication staff, Board and the community.
Education and Experience: Master’s Degree in Library Science from an from an
ALA Accredited program and three years of public library experience.

Mrs. Sevedge seconded the motion which carried.
The Board decided to meet again in Special Session next Thursday evening, March 12, 2015
at 7:00pm in the Conference Room of the Library to continue to work on the Director
Search. The Librarian will be unable to attend this meeting and will ask the Interim
Director, Connie Avery, to meet with the Board.
Adjournment: Mrs. Merema moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:00pm.
