96,000 BTU
SELF-CONTAINED
This 8 ton (96,000
BTU) unit pumps out
more than 5,000 CFM
of air conditioned air
with two blowers, four
evaporators and a nine
ton condenser
assembly, which results
in a low compressor
head pressure and amp
draw. Each blower is
fitted with 3-6" collars
(many configurations
available) for ease of
ducting. The single
Copeland scroll
compressor is staged to
start a few seconds
after the blowers to
minimize the start up
surge, even though
with a scroll
compressor the start
up surge is very
minimal.
Optional condenser
manifolds result in a
single sea water in and
out connection, and the
optional refrigerant
gauge package lets you
monitor the operating
conditions of the unit
immediately.
Flagship Marine Exclusive!
Dry Drain Pan!
No more mold and mildew starting in your drain pan!
We now manufacture sloped aluminum drain pans that are dry so the

evaporators and a huge condenser assembly, which results in a low compressor head pressure and amp draw.
Each blower is fitted with a 12" collar for ease of ducting. The single Copeland scroll compressor is staged to
start a few seconds after the blowers to minimize the start up surge, even though with a scroll compressor the
start up surge is very minimal.
Optional condenser manifolds result in a single sea water in and out connection, and the optional refrigerant

18,000 BTUs of cooling and ONLY 10.5" high with a
rotary compressor!
The newest addition to our lineup of
fine equipment has been specifically
designed for Catamarans and other
applications that require low vertical
dimensions.
The Tecumseh horizontal
compressor made this all possible.
Measures only 24" long x 17" wide x
10.5" high!
For larger applications ON A TINY FOOTPRINT:
These incredibly compact 60,000 BTU units have a tiny 24" x 27" footprint and
are only 43" high. They really pack a punch - enough horsepower for 660 square
ft. each!
Completely self-contained, these quiet and powerful units need only a power
supply line, 15 GPM of seawater (or freshwater with a keel cooler or heat
exchanger) and a condensate drain.
On a ship, four of these units will cool and heat an incredible 30' x 90' area! Huge
savings can be reaped in initial equipment expense, installation and maintenance
expense - all while benefiting from redundancy.
Two seamen can swap out a unit in minutes in the highly unlikely event of a
failure.

MIGHTY MITE!
For a lot of horsepower
with a tiny footprint, this
vertical configuration
36,000 BTU unit is only
16" x 21" and is still only
29" high!
Note how accessible all of
the components are - such
as the expansion valve
blower, compressor and
electric box!
HIGHEST QUALITY PLUS SIMPLICITY OF DESIGN
What sets Flagship Marine apart from our competition is our belief in the KISS principle (Keep It Simple,
Stupid). This has guided our component selection and design emphasis for many years. We brag that even a
child can follow our schematics!
As you can see below, the Flagship Marine electric control box has the highest quality over-the-counter
components, and it is extremely easy to diagnose and repair a problem.
The most expensive component in this box is less than $28.00! No extremely expensive, proprietary printed
circuit boards, and no need for a specifically trained technician! Most problems can be diagnosed and repaired
with a voltmeter and a screwdriver!

EXPANSION VALVES VS.
CAPILLARY TUBES
All Flagship Marine equipment
incorporates expansion valves which
adjust the modulation of the refrigerant
to match the conditions of sea water,
humidity and ambient temperature.
This maximizes performance by
preventing excessive or inadequate
refrigerant head pressures, resulting in
more cooling and extended component
life!
This is why all new HVAC equipment
must now use expansion valves instead
of the capillary tubes you may still have
in your home air conditioner.
We don't "cut corners" - these cost us
about $70.00 vs a $3.00 cap tube!
Capillary tubes cannot adjust the refrigerant
modulation which is fixed by the physical length of
the tube. Like a broken clock that is right only twice
a day, capillary tubes either over-modulate or undermodulate the refrigerant as the sea water
temperatures vary. As an extreme example, if you
are in upper Mississippi when the water is 40° and
the air is 95° the modulation will be excessive and the
head pressure much too low. Expansion valves adjust
the modulation according to the conditions.
In compliance with the ABYC standards, we only supply
flanged ball valves for all below-the-waterline applications.
WHY FLAGSHIP MARINE UNITS
NEVER
HAVE CONDENSER FAILURES!
The heart of every marine air conditioner is the condenser—the heat sink to the ocean and the only component the

corrosive sea water touches is the inside of the inside tube. Failure of this tube is catastrophic for the entire
system.
Even extremely corrosive places like the very high salinity of the Red Sea are no problem for Flagship Marine
condensers because we use an unusually thick walled 90/10 CuNi (copper nickel) tube with particular annealment,
hardness and other characteristics.
We don’t dramatically shorten our condensers to save money by enhancing this tub: knurling or rifling for
example. Our tube is “slick walled” with no thin spots that fester these failures.
Paper thin condenser tubes dissipate heat very quickly so the condenser tube can be short and inexpensive. We don't
cut corners by doing so. We have full length condensers! The shorter the condenser, the cheaper it is and the shorter
it will last!
Flagship Marine has always prioritized durability and quality over cost savings and we NEVER cut corners. We also don’t
skimp on our brazing material—ALL refrigerant lines are brazed with a 15% silver alloy, not the 5% typical of other
manufacturers. As a result, Flagship Marine is very proud to have had almost ZERO condenser failures in the last two decades!
CHOOSE FLAGSHIP MARINE FOR CONSISTENT QUALITY AND DURABILITY!
CONDENSER SERVICE TIPS
Every 5-7 years or so, it's good form to chemically clean the inside of the condenser tube with a phosphoric acid solution (such as
"Barnacle Buster"), and if in fresh water every couple years with a bleach solution. In locations with muscle crab infestations
more frequent treatments may be necessary. This will bring the condenser back to a like-new condition.
Over the years the heat transfer will be diminished by a marine growth which will gradually increase the refrigerant pressure
and reduce efficiency. Simply circulate the solution through the condenser for a couple hours or so (depending on the dilution),
and when you're done a high pressure garden hose will help blast away any stubborn deposits. Muriatic acid will also work but
it unnecessarily removes the protective patina and is VERY hard on your lungs and the environment!
All Flagship Marine condensers are hand-crafted from start
to finish at our Stuart factory location to our exacting specifications.

OPTIONAL SEA WATER MANIFOLDS
Also available, for a fraction of the cost, are these
Hi-Max PVC manifolds that come with the hose
and double stainless steel clamp connections properly sized for your particular chiller.

Flagship Marine's sea water manifolds are 90/10 CuNi
schedule 80 pipe, which is MUCH more durable (about 10x
thicker!) than our competitors' tubing. These, in combination
with the socolets, meet mil spec requirements and will FAR
outlast all others. No sinking or water damage hazard from
ruptured hoses or paper thin manifolds at 3AM!

All condenser-tube-to-manifold
connections are made with precision
machined 90/10 CuNi (Copper
Nickel) socolets that are TIG welded
to the schedule 80 90/10 CuNi nipple
with a monel alloy and brazed with a
15% silver alloy brazing rods to the
condenser tubes to ensure many
years of trouble free service.
This configuration meets all MilSpec
and ABYC requirements. Naked
connections aren't nearly as durable
and fail to meet those standards.
For your convenience all manifolds
are fitted with reducing couplers and
a 3/4" drain plugs for winterizing.
Flagship Marine takes no shortcuts with quality and design!
FREQUENCY DRIVES AND DIGITAL SCROLL COMPRESSORS?
The new frequency drive and digital scroll compressor technology is
certainly interesting, and it's very entertaining to watch a scroll
compressor spool up and down, but in the marine industry we see no
appreciable benefit to warrant the significant complexity and expense to
justify incorporating this technology in our equipment.
Scroll compressors, by their design, ALWAYS start "unloaded",
regardless of residual head pressure. They can restart one second after
shutting down effortlessly, unlike a piston or rotary compressor. The
only concern is having enough run time to insure the refrigerant oil
returns to the compressor, so it's good form to have a significant
temperature differential.
Flagship Marine strives to provide the most simple, trouble free and
durable equipment available, and frequency drives and digital controllers are certainly not in keeping with the
KISS principal that guides our component selection and design. Of course if you do want these compressors we
will oblige!
If saving 3% in electricity over the life of the compressor is important to you, then these new technologies
might justify the initial added component expense, and the complexity and ongoing maintenance expenses you will
incur over the years. We will be happy to oblige.

Flagship Marine now offers the full line of attractive white plastic supply and return grills!
Totally pre-wired -All of our units are totally pre-wired onto two
clearly marked terminal blocks - any standard thermostat will
operate all of our units.
Our emphasis is on simplicity of design while incorporating the
highest quality components with multiple safety controls.
Exceptional Safety - Built in circuit breaker, triple heating element
safety controls as well as dual high pressure safety shutoff controls
make our units the safest available!
Unbelievably quiet due to our unique mounting
isolator bushings, insulated blower chamber and
rotary or scroll compressors - many of our customers
have actually mounted our units under their bunk!
The Matsushita Rotary Compressors have been an
industry leader for many years, and are renowned
for being incredibly quiet. It's difficult to hear these
compressors start, run or stop, even if you are
standing right next to it!
Very easy to start - Soft start capacitors, stratified
start up sequence and time delay compressor circuits
in combination with our rotary or scroll compressors
make our A/C units start effortlessly - our
16,500BTU unit should be on a 25 amp breaker!
Very low start up surge - The start up surge of
these compressors is a fraction of the dinosaur like
piston compressors! Millions of these compressors

have been used for many years in window units - the
piston compressors simply cannot meet the minimum
energy efficiency standards.
Matsushita has been an industry leader
for many years and is renowned for
manufacturing high quality, low start up
surge, quiet, durable and efficient
compressors.
Dry drain pans - The rotary and scroll compressors
do not sweat and therefore do not sit in their own
condensate and rust! All of our single evaporator
models (less than 48,000BTUs and the low profile FMAC16PLP)
have dry drain pans - there is a small drain pan only
under the evaporator!
Trouble free, safe and reliable electric heat works
anywhere - in or out of the water - only one moving part!
Our exclusive 840 Incoloy clad tubular
heating elements are almost identical to
the heating element in your home electric
oven, however we have coiled it into a
tight coil and placed it in the discharge
throat of the blower motor- it never gets
red hot and therefore never "burns"the
air.
Three temperature safety switches
monitor this element. Dual controlling
sensors as well as a blower post purge
sensor which dissipates the remaining heat
once the thermostat is satisfied makes this
the safest and most reliable means of
heating your boat.
We have thousands of these elements in service for many
years - they have been standard equipment for the US
and Canadian Coast Guard's 47' MLBs since 1996. Read
about the numerous benefits of electric vs reverse cycle
heat at our "Electric Heat" page.
Flagship Marine components fit together
with aircraft quality precision.
All sheet metal components are laser cut with
aircraft/military quality tolerances in the ten-thousandths
of an inch range as depicted here with the skeleton of an
air-cooled chiller. Note the PEM nut inserts and numerous
stainless steel rivets that result in a very rigid, strong and
exacting structure.
Consumer Alert!
The following kit prices include EVERYTHING you will need for installation except the power
supply wire and breaker - there are no last minute additional charges for cables, multiple duct
kits, sea water kits, handling, crating, boxing etc. The ONLY additional expense is the shipping
(and sales tax for products shipped to a Florida address only).
We pride ourselves on having the most simple and trouble free product available - a child can
follow our schematics and we truly believe in the KISS principle (keep it simple stupid), and "If

Some advice and common sense about warranties:
As with most contracts, the first and most important thing to read in any warranty is the smallest print... unless it's a "No
questions asked" warranty (which they never are). Almost all warranties are only as good as the honor of the company standing
behind it.
I know of companies that have literally NEVER performed on their warranty because it is NEVER the fault of the product. "I
know this compressor is only two months old, but it obviously failed from low voltage (or high voltage, or a lightening strike, or it's
burned from a lack of cooling water - TAKE YOUR PICK!)".
The most wonderful sounding and comprehensive warranty can be absolutely worthless. In some cases they offer extended
warranties for a handsome fee, which are again absolutely worthless with the wrong company - save your money! These are
nothing more than a very lucrative alternate profit center!
We do not offer "extended warranties" for a fee and we do stand behind our products!
Approximate Specifications
* The larger units usually have a single 12" duct or 3-4 6" ducts - we will supply whatever your particular
application requires at no additional charge.
R=Rotary compressor S=Scroll compressor LP = Low profile
Our aluminum discharge plenums attach directly to the discharge flange of the blower motor, making attaching the
ducts a simple task: add about 6" to the length of the unit for a side discharge unit or 6" to its' height for a top
discharge unit. (about 8" for units larger than 20,000 BTUs)
One ton of cooling =12,000 BTUs/hour. One BTU is the amount of thermal energy required to raise the temperature
of one pound of water one degree F. One calorie is the amount of thermal energy required to raise the temperature of
one cubic centimeter of water 1°C. Units' BTUs are rated in BTUs/hour of continuous operation under ideal
conditions.
