RABBIT CANDY DISH By: Terry and Sandy Jordan Cost: $40 Min/Max-1/10 Level: ALL Class Description: Students will be instructed on how to use Quikwood from Terry to sculpt ears, face, and feet on a small bottle gourd to create this lovable rabbit Students will be instructed on how to cut and clean the gourd to create the candy dish. Students will then be given instruction in the Donna Dewberry One-stroke technique on how to paint the rabbit in his Sunday attire from Sandy, a Certifying Elite One-Stroke Instructor with Dewberry Designs. Come create this whimsical rabbit candy dish in your color of choice. Supplies students must bring: One-stroke brushes: 3/4”, #12 and #10 flat, 1/2” scruffy and #2 liner. (These brushes can be purchased from Sandy at her cost of $15-- Please contact her if you need brushes.) Water Basin (to use with paint brushes), gourd scraper and small gourd saw. Supplies instructor must bring: Gourd (cleaned, ready to sculpt and paint), Quikwood, All FolkArt Acrylic Paints, Foam Plates, Paper Towels, Indoor/Outdoor Polyurethane Spray, Monofilament for whiskers, Super Glue, Small Drill with bit, Tutorial I’M A LITTLE TEAPOT By: Betty Bloomfield Cost: $27 Min/Max- Level: ALL Class Description: Create a teapot using a cannonball gourd, quickwood and a variety of spout shapes and handle pieces. The lid is made with wood, wood bead and quickwood. Finish up by painting a simple chicken design. Supplies students must bring: Instructor will supply all supplies needed. STAINED GLASS JEWELRY BOX By: Carrie Lynn Dearing Cost: $60 Min/Max-1/12 Level: ALL Class Description: This has so many techniques in one class! Woodburning, stippling, ink dyes, the use of Gold leave, heat activated glues, and jewelry box assembly! Create this beautiful jewelry box and everyone one will want one! Supplies woodburner with favorite blade tip. Dremel with 191 ball bit by Dremel (that is the small one) heat gun. Mask. WOLF PORTRAIT By: Pamela Redhawk Cost: $55 Min/Max-1/12 Level: ALL Class Description: In this class you will learn how to woodburn animal fur and create life like eyes. You will finish your gourd with Gourd master Ink dyes. Gourd approx- 8" diameter prepped gourd. Supplies students must bring: heat gun, gloves, woodburner with favorite bits SUMA By: Regine Dossche Min/Max-1/12 Cost: CHOICE: SUMA = $135, WOODEN DISC = $110, ABSTRACT = $110 Level: ALL Class Description: - Plaster figure (Geisha) and plaster hands, are mounted on a round gourd of about 5,5” -6”. After finishing a nice shape, we will cover the body with a nice modeling paste by mixing Powertex and Easy 3Dflex. We use stamps, templates, sea shells, screws, etc to press detailed prints into it. This medium will show cracks after spraying with Bister (brown patina) and drying in the sun or near a heat source. It will be mounted on a beautiful metal black base. Abstract or Wooden disc : A Styrofoam base will be used instead of a gourd. Same technique as for Suma. Teacher Provides: Plaster Head and hands for Suma, Styrofoam base for other projects, Powertex, Easy 3Dflex, Bister, Stockinette, stamps, templates, etc. Students Bring: Round gourd of 5,5” to max 6”(Suma). Aluminum foil and masking tape for Suma Project or Abstract, vinyl or latex gloves, plastic to transport their artwork. “BOTTLE TAGS” By: Greer Peters Cost: $24 Min/Max-4/12 Level: ALL Class Description: Learn a new technique that can be used on many of your gourd projects. You will learn how to make a raised stencil using modeling paste. This can enhance all kinds of gourd designs or be the design as a standalone all by its self. You will decoupage the bottle tags and add the font of your choice, then learn the stencil process and finely enhance all with rub on metallic gold or silver highlights. You will receive a tutorial with additional names and printed patterns and some modeling paste, so you can make more tags at home after the class. You will finish about 3 bottle tags in class. * note your finished gourd tags are around 2"H x 31/2"W and hang down about 5" with the chain. All materials supplied except Sharpie pen Students Bring: Sharpie pen, an old paint brushes, water cup and paper towels. FILIGREE APPLE (THIS CLASS WILL FINISH UP IN THE EVENING) By: Ellen Tatum Cost: $60 Min/Max-1/12 Level: Intermediate/Advanced Class Description: This apple is a beauty and you can create it with or without a light on the inside. It will take the afternoon and night class time to complete this work of art. This is not a class for beginners but if you have taken any filigree classes then you can create this apple. If you pre-register I supply a cleaned apple gourd for you along with all the inks, paints, paint brushes, cleanup supplies and any other necessary items. Supplies Students Bring: A rotary tool such as a dremel with carving, sanding and filigree bits and dust masks FAUX LEATHER TOOLED VASE By: Troy Tatum Cost: $45 Min/Max-3/12 Level: Intermediate/Advanced Class Description: Learn how to create the look of leather tooling on a gourd. The participants will transfer a furnished leather tool pattern to the gourd, wood-burn the outline, learn to shade the design and stipple the background. This class will focus on creating multiple values of shading with a wood-burner utilizing low heat. A detailed discussion of shading techniques along with an overview of pen tips and their uses will be provided. Students may not finish the project in the allotted class time, but full instructions will be provided and all techniques will be demonstrated in class. Supplies Students Bring: A variable temperature wood-burner with a skew tip, medium ball tip, shading tip (large ball or bent shader) and any other tip you have. (We will discuss their uses) Bring a small drill (if you have one), heat gun, breathing mask or respirator, eye protection and your normal gourd tools.
