Flying at a speed faster than has ever been flown in a Piper Malibu Mirage, his plane “Spirit of San Diego” is equipped with the most innovative technology available today. Seven local San Diego businesses have designed and/or installed a combination of new technologies custom built especially for DeLaurentis’ plane to produce more horsepower and speed, reduce drag, climb faster and run more reliably than any other plane of its type. More than 40 sponsors have signed on for this historical trip including Landmark Aviation at Lindbergh Field, where DeLaurentis will take-off on Sunday, May 17, 2015. For more information, visit www.flyingthrulife.com. DeLaurentis says, “Like pilot Charles Lindbergh and the Spirit of St. Louis, “I carry the hopes, dreams and Spirit of San Diego with me on this historic flight. This call to adventure showcases San Diego, aviation technology, raises money for a local school, and shows the people of San Diego and the world what is possible with the proper training, good decision making and the right equipment.” The event will include a brief presentation, hands-on inspection of the plane and survival flight suit, and Q/A with students and parents.
