ICAN Meadows Family Picnic
Come and join ICAN and the Garioch Ranger for the 3 Annual Meadows
family picnic on Sunday 17th May (12 - 3 pm) to (re)discover Insch Meadows.
rd
The Garioch ranger and volunteers will be on hand to lead pond dipping and
other activities to help young and old explore the wildlife of the meadows (all
free of charge) or you may want to just relax with your picnic and enjoy the
surroundings.
Please bring your own picnic but leave some space for our delicious home
bakes. As well as a cake stall, we will have a lucky dip and raffle. Insch
Meadows can be found just off the High Street – follow the lane down the side
of the Masonic Lodge.
Anyone who can help man stalls on the day or can contribute to the home
bake stall, please contact ICAN (contact details at foot of page).
We look forward to meeting you on the day!

Energyzing Insch Project
As viewers of BBC1’s Landward programme will know, IREC was successful
in its bid to the Scottish Government’s Challenge Fund for support of its
Energyzing Insch project. In mid-March, Fergus Ewing, Scotland’s Minister for
Business, Energy and Tourism announced that IREC had been awarded £6
million (a combination of a grant and a loan) for the development of the
project from design through to operation.
The final designs for the local grid system are now being finalised ready for
the tendering process and IREC is advertising for a Project Manager.
If you would like to keep up to date with project news, like our Facebook page
(search for IREC) or join our mailing list. You can fill out the mailing list form
via our website which also has a good description of the Energyzing Insch
project (www.inschenergy.co.uk).
Seeing how bonny Aberdeenshire looked on the piece that Landward did
about IREC, we have also decided to launch a monthly photo competition for
pictures taken locally that show the best of the area. It could be photo of a
favourite view, local wildlife or an event in the area. It’s up to you! Further
details are on our Facebook page and the website.
