Adopt-A Median, Flower Bed, or Park
Sponsorship Program
The City of Fort Smith’s Adopt-A-Median, Flower Bed, or Park Sponsorship Program is a
means for citizens to show their pride and support for their community. The goal is to have
each median, flower bed, and park sponsored, ensuring a sense of ownership and
responsibility for all our parks and park facilities.
The program will ensure community support and establish the beauty of Fort Smith as a top
priority and commitment by the City of Fort Smith, its organizations, businesses, and citizens.
The program will ensure that the medians, flower beds, and parks are aesthetically pleasing,
and highly maintained at all times.
The program will ensure that the City of Fort Smith’s medians, flower beds, and parks are for
the community to enjoy now and in the future.
The signature to the Sponsorship Program agreement signifies that the sponsoring
organization/company or individuals agree to abide by its content, as well as the
reciprocating agreement by the Fort Smith Parks and Recreation Department. By signing this
agreement, both parties agree to work together to establish the adopted medians, flower
beds, and parks as a top priority for the City and communities of the City of Fort Smith.

Sponsorship Program Agreement
Sponsoring Organization, Company, or Individual
______________________________________________________ agree to the following
conditions as our responsibilities under the Sponsorship Program:
1. Sponsorship is for a three year term. Upon completion of each three year term, the
last term holding sponsor has first option to renew its sponsorship for another three
year term.
2. Agrees to maintain the site monthly at a minimum. This can include, but is not limited
to removing litter and debris, weeding the beds, and planting flowers. Not fulfilling
monthly obligations may result in loss of sponsorship.
3. Agrees to provide input and funding for development or maintenance concerns. This
might include the purchase of flowers and mulch or a representative attending the
monthly Parks and Recreation Commission meetings. Ideas and concerns can be sent
by email or a telephone call to the Parks and Recreation Department at 784-1006.
4. Agrees to monitor (eyes and ears) of the median, flower bed, or park. As any citizen
neighborhood-watch program, sponsoring organization would make it a point to keep
a watch on the site to observe the cleanliness and look for vandalism, and report
problems and concerns to the Parks and Recreation Department or Police Department
as necessary.

The City of Fort Smith Parks and Recreation Department agrees to the following conditions as
our responsibilities under the Adopt-A-Median, Flower Bed, or Park Sponsorship Program:

The Parks and Recreation Department will provide support as needed.
The Parks and Recreation Department will include the sponsor in their respective parks
development planning functions.
GENERAL
The City of Fort Smith shall maintain full authority and responsibility for the sites. All final
decisions regarding direction and development rest with the Parks and Recreation Department
with the input from the sponsoring organizations, business, or individual.
