Oliver Bernier
Historian, Author - “Fireworks
at Dusk: Paris in the Thirties”
Mr. Bernier has been giving
sold-out lectures at the
Metropolitan Museum of Art,
New York City, and has lectured
across the country for museums and women’s clubs.
He has appeared, among other places, at the Pierpoint
Morgan Library, the Smithsonian Institution in
Washington, D.C., and the National Geographic
Society. He has conducted trips for the Metropolitan
Museum of Art, American Federation of Arts,
the National Trust for Historic Preservation and
numerous others.

creators of all the standards
many of us grewup with and
love, cabaret hasmade a
resurgence in recent
years. Steve was the first cabaret performer, after
40 years, when the Algonquin Hotel re-opened
the Oak Room. He’s hosted a live cabaret
series on BBC and the NPR special New York
Cabaret Nights, at the Kravis Center, West Palm
Beach, and on the Queen Mary II, New York to
Southampton, sailing May 2014, and many more.

Festival with Saxophobia
at the
Lerner Crystal Ballroom

The quartet offers audiences a
glimpse at some of the most
unusual saxophones ever made,
and pays tribute to some of the
great jazz legends. We will
explore more than a half-century
of classic jazz melodies, and will
feature a tiny curved sopranino,
slide sax, the Elkhart-made ConnO-Sax, plastic alto, straight tenor,
and even a 6 1/2-foot tall
contrabass saxophone.
Doors open at noon for dessert and
coffee. This event is eligible for
the Gateway Mile Loyalty Card

Awell-known lecturer, food historian,
and writer, Francine has appeared on
the Today Show, Discovery Channel,
the Food Network, PBS and as a
regular on Martha Stewart Living radio. Learn how
Christopher Columbus and Casanova played a part in
the spread of chocolate and how the decadent 17th
century European high society experienced chocolate.
Discover chocolate’s history from bean to bar as she
guides us through a tasting of various types of fine
chocolates.

Diane Tesler
Plein Aire Painter at
Midwest Museum of
American Art
Diane Tesler is a Plein Aire painter, an artist who sets
up her easel in the great outdoors and paints from life.
Discover what it means to paint on location. Diane
will speak on her work and painting in the Indiana
countryside, in Virginia, and in Tucson, Ariz. Diane’s
studio, exhibition space and classrooms are in a
renovated IOOF Lodge Hall in Kewanna, Indiana. This
program will be in the Midwest Museum of American
Art where Diane’s work will be on exhibition.
