Machteld Schierbeek
Machteld Schierbeek is a corporate communications expert with almost 20 years of
experience. From 2007 until now she works as a consultant in the Netherlands and Belgium
for different public and private companies.
Between 2004 and 2007, Machteld Schierbeek worked as an advisor to the Queen’s
Commissioner for the Province of Zeeland (the Netherlands). She was responsible for
communication strategy, speechwriting, recommending and developing appropriate
communications materials, for instance on public safety, and issues related to national
and European policies. She managed a team of direct reports with public information and
secretarial duties. During this period, the communication process of the deepening of the
Westerschelde was one of her major projects.
Machteld Schierbeek started her career in 1997 working for the Dutch Government.
Until 2004 she held different communication positions within the National and Regional
Dutch Government. In that role she developed and implemented the internal and external
communications for big government programs and various initiatives. She also acted
as spokesperson.
Machteld Schierbeek studied Communication Sciences in Groningen (the Netherlands) and
completed several other studies in government relations and marketing in the United States.
She holds a minor in Organizational Psychology. She is of Dutch nationality and operates
fluently in English, Dutch and German.
