Cur.
ir, -\delbert ''Nap" Jackson, Sr. was born on Thursday (Food Fair Day) April 24, 1957 to Anthon and
Loma Jackson. He rvas the second son of seven children, one brother, Dean Allen preceded him in death as an
infant. As a r oung b1' growing up in Frenchtown, he and his brother were forever playing on the field, riding
bic, vcles and har ing minor casualties. Although he had other nicknames the one that stuck until his passing
was "\AP". This 'uvas because whenever there was a fall or a cut while playing, he always had a NAPkin in
his pocket to help stop the bleeding. He attended the George Washington Elementary School, The Wayne Aspinall Junior High School and the Charlotte Amalie High School. before he enlisted in the National Guards on
Jul1 12. 1977 rihere he obtained his 12th grade diploma.
This union uith the National Guards helped to set his career paths as an Ambulance Drier with the Deparlment
of Health and then as a Chef in the Virgin Islands National Guards and Self Employed Caterer up until his
passing. Recentl-v he worked with Gil's Cleaning Service and the last job he worked at Christ Church Methodist n.here his f-arewell service is now being held. He had a passion for cooking and his mom thought it was
perhaps because he was bom on "Food Fair Day". He has been a participant in the Carnival Food Fair fiom
the dals uhen it took place in the Rothschild Francis Market Square and the Sanderilla Thomas Bungalow up
until last ) ear at the Emancipation Garden and the Alvaro De Lugo Post Office Square. He has cooked for all
kinds of celebrations and special occasions; the most memorable one being when he was invited to Camp David to cook for President George W. Bush at the request of Brigadier General Timothy Lake and the last one
on December 20 for a sweet sixteen. He willingly volunteered with The Methodist Training and Outreach
Center. Inc. as the agency fundraised for funds to feed he homeless. He had become extremely famous for his
Conch Chowder which many people across the territory questioned when they saw it on any menu "is Nap
cooking it?' When the answer was yes the next response would be "put me down for 1 or 2 or a large one."
He was tl.re cook for many of the political campaign fundraisers.
Nap u,as an avid sports enthusiast, he was in his element watching or playing in the nightly softball games at
Emile Griffith Park.. Nap held membership on various teams and sports that included: The Virgin Islands National Guard Softball team, The 4o Plus Baseball Team and the Oilers softball team. For many years, he was a
member of the Virgin Islands Carnival Committee Village Member.
He was a family person who always wanted to assist with family celebrations and would volunteer to cook his
Conch Chowder or Chicken Soup. His daughter Simone and son Calvin. Jr. were the joy of his life, while his
grandson Jaiden Fletcher was the apple of his eye. He has been slim body compared to his siblings but never
had an1- major health issues. He complained of having a bout of Chickgunya in September, then after Thanksgiving he said he had a dry cough that made him feel weak and tired. Finally he went to the doctor, got some
medication. On Christmas Eve day his daughter demanded that he go to the Emergency room, which he did
and r+-as admitted to the Intensive Care
Unit (ICU). On December 26.2014 his heart failed, and he went home
to be rvith Lord. May He Rest In Peace!!
