joined in our vision along the way to serve the elderly and people with
disabilities.
The timeline of Friends for Life would look much different today if not for your

1989 - Started by Founder and Executive Director, Inez Russell. Initial programs were
Independent Living/Quality of Life
1990 - Guardianship program started
1994 - Money Management program started as part of a statewide project funded by The
Meadows Foundation
1999 - Funding from Robert Woods Johnson Foundation provided for expansion into
neighboring rural counties
2000 - Assumed responsibility for Adult Day Care program previously operated by a local
hospital
2006 - Guardianship program began expansion to 39 counties with first office in Abilene, TX
2006 - Added office in Temple, TX
2013 - Expanded Guardianship Program to serve 81 counties across Texas
2013 - Added office in Texas City, TX
2014 - Added office in Corpus Christi, TX

Our great friend and advocate, Mr. Gerald
Bolfing passed away on Monday, May 11th.
Gerald has been on the board of Friends for
Life since 1998. He believed wholeheartedly
our mission and our commitment to the
elderly & people with disabilities. His
continued support has been invaluable
throughout the years.
