Graduate Recognition - Friendswood United Methodist Church

Graduate Recognition
Sunday, May 17, 2015
Congratulations, class of 2015! On behalf of your church family, we are excited to celebrate this
achievement with you. Please join us, Sunday, May 17, in both worship and special luncheon.
WORSHIP: Graduates will be recognized, by standing where they are, during 8:30 and 9:45 worship.
LUNCHEON: You are also invited to catered luncheon, in honor of our graduates, held at the Pearland
Knights of Columbus Hall, 2320 Hatfield Road, just north of 518 in Pearland. During the luncheon, we
will present a slide show of our graduates, and have a time for graduates to share their plans for the
future. Please submit (by email only) up to 5 photos of your graduate, including a Senior Picture, for
the slideshow.
Your graduate’s meal is free, and additional family members and friends are invited to join us at a cost
of $15 per person. Please call the student ministry office, with the number of those attending the
luncheon, by May 4. You may also email your reservations to [email protected].
SCHOLARSHIP: Each year Friendswood UMC awards several scholarships to deserving church
members. Please find the enclosed scholarship application, and return it to the student ministry office
by the May 4, 2015.
Finally, if you know of a graduate who is not of aware of the luncheon or the scholarship application,
please have them call the student ministry office. The application can also be found on the church web

Graduating Senior Scholarship Program
The Friendswood United Methodist Church Scholarship Committee awards several thousand
dollars in continuing education scholarships yearly, to deserving high school seniors. Ideally,
scholarship applicants have honored God and Friendswood UMC through the faithful use of
their prayers, presence, gifts, service, and their witness. Awards are based primarily on the
following criteria:
1. Study for a church related vocation.
2. Past service to church
3. Participation in church and student ministries
All students are encouraged to apply, however, as it is not necessary to meet all three
criteria. In addition, students may share with the committee other factors that they feel make
them worthy candidates. Please be aware, however, that need is generally not a determining
factor.
Applications will be available in the Student Lounge, the reception area of the church, from the
Student Ministry Office or online at www.friendswoodumc.com.
The deadline for turning in an application is Monday, May 4, 2015. Applications should be
delivered to the Student Ministry Office, or emailed to [email protected].
Award recipients are announced during the Recognition Dinner.
