FROMTO Transcoding Solution
FROMTO media converter is an innovative super-speed transcoding solution providing hardwareaccelerated conversion of video streams. It improves the Quality of Experience (QoE) and bandwidth efficiency
of video content delivery over network by transcoding video streams into several representations for different
devices (TVs, tablets, etc.). Video streams in popular formats are transcoded by FROMTO in real-time to MPEG2/MPEG-4/H.264 for video-on-demand and live streaming services. High speed transcoding is achieved using
GPU acceleration (Intel QuickSync technology).

Architecture
FROMTO transcoder has distributed architecture consisting of Load Balancer and cluster of transcoders
installed on separate servers. Requests for transcoding (e.g. from Web frontend or using API) are sent to the
Load Balancer that balances requests among available transcoders for obtaining maximum performance. For
receiving transcoding requests transcoders use standard FastCGI protocol. Therefore customers can use any
other solutions for load balancing (e.g. nginx server).
