After Akerlof’s (1970) influential paper, several quality-signaling mechanisms are recognized in secondary markets to reduce information asymmetry. Even though, the information asymmetry reducing mechanisms provide advantages for sellers and buyers, these mechanisms lead to price changes. Accordingly, the main goal of this study is to measure effect of quality-signaling mechanisms on the price range of the used car market in Turkey. The common mechanisms offered by franchised dealers in the used car market, certified pre-owned (CPO) and extended warranty, and effects on the price of a used car are main focus of the study.
