ITINERARY
Day 1: Thurs, July 28. Depart Chicago O’Hare for your overnight flight to Dublin,
Ireland. Dinner is followed by your in-flight entertainment just after take-off.
Day 2: Fri, July 29. Arrive Dublin and after clearing customs you’ll be met by
your driver/guide who will assist you with your luggage and escort you to the
deluxe motor coach. Leaving Dublin we stop for breakfast at the famed Man of
War Pub where we’ll enjoy the first of many Irish breakfasts. We continue past the
many lakes and pastures of Irelands heartland. We’ll make a stop halfway to
Belmullet for a quick pint or cup of coffee to break up the journey. Arrive in
Belmullet town nestled between Black Sod and Broadhaven Bay. Enjoy dinner
tonight at our hotel. After dinner an optional trip to James and Rose's Pub for a
night of Irish music!
Day 3, Sat, July 30. This morning you can choose to take part in optional activities. Maybe take in a round of golf at the
famous Carnes Golf Club where many of the world's top golfers have played. Another option is a hike of Erris Head or
just enjoy sleeping in. We will depart late afternoon for our quick ride to Westport. Dinner is included at our hotel tonight.
Day 4, Sun, July 31. After breakfast we depart for a day tour which includes a drive past Croagh Patrick, the Pilgrimage
Mountain associated with Saint Patrick. Next we visit Knock Shrine where the Virgin Mary appeared in 1879. We will then
continue on to the Kylemore Abbey, situated in the heart of beautiful Connemara. Arrive back at our hotel mid-afternoon
with plenty of free time in Westport. Dinner tonight is on our own to check out various dining venues in town walkable
from the hotel.
Day 5, Mon, August 1. This morning we first travel to Cong where the movie ‘The Quiet
Man’ starring John Wayne was filmed. This is also home of the famous Ashford Castle. We
will enjoy a walking tour of Cong with a local guide. Continuing on to Galway for a cruise on
the Corrib Princess, we will see spectacular views of castles and other historic sites.
Afterwards we will have time to explore, grab lunch or shop. Our last stop of the day will be
the majestic Cliffs of Moher (a picture here is a must!) The cliffs rise over 700 feet above the
Atlantic. Arrive at our Ennis hotel in Co. Clare and enjoy dinner at our hotel which is included.
Day 6, Tues, August 2. Today discover the beautiful Dingle Peninsula with many stops
along the way to admire the views and take amazing photos. We will be driving the famous
Slea Head drive and see Christian monastic beehive huts with views of the Blasket Islands.
Arrive at our guesthouses tonight, with dinner at the Chart House, one of the best restaurants in Dingle with views of Dingle Bay.
Day 7, Weds, August 3. Today is ours to do anything and everything in this charming town of Dingle. The town is filled
with unique shops and music is everywhere. Optional activities may include a short cruise to see Fungie the Dolphin who
resides in Dingle Bay or a horseback ride through the hills to enjoy views of the Atlantic Ocean. Dinner is on your own
tonight. The famous sea food restaurants are highly recommended, as the local fishermen supply them with their fresh
“catch of the day" every afternoon.
Day 8, Thurs, August 4. Leaving Dingle, next stop is Killarney where we will be taking in a jaunting car ride through the
National Park. Plenty of free time in Killarney to browse the shops filled with Waterford Crystal and Irish sweaters or stop
for a coffee or pint in the many local pubs. Then we are off to the famous Blarney Castle, home of the Blarney Stone and
the Blarney Woollen Mills. You will have time to browse the village and its many shops. Continue to Kinsale, the
"Gourmet Capitol" of Ireland, where dinner will be on your own. There are plenty of restaurants and pubs just a walk
from our hotel.
Day 9, Fri, August 5. This morning enjoy a walking tour of the charming town of Kinsale. The local guide will share the
history of the town that traces back to 1177. After the tour we’ll travel to Cobh, the last port of call for the ill-fated Titanic
on April 11, 1912. Tonight we have reservations at the world famous Fishy Fishy Restaurant where Martin Shanahan the
famed chef resides. Here enjoy the views of the harbor and an outside wine bar.
Day 10, Sat, August 6. Travel today to the center of Ireland to visit
Clonmacnoise, a monastic settlement founded in 545 AD by St. Ciaran. The
site is home of the remains of a cathedral, a castle, two round towers, three
sculpted high crosses and more than 200 monumental slabs. On to Athlone for
a short river cruise to arrive at our final hotel. This last hotel is guaranteed to
impress you with its beautiful lake views. This evening we will have a farewell
dinner at our hotel.
Sun, August 7. We bid farewell to our driver / guide arriving at Dublin airport
for your return flight.
