JBL TRAVEL POLESPEARS
FEATURES, USE AND MAINTENANCE
2D72 2D80 2D60 (Model is no longer available)
Features
All JBL Travel Polespear models are made of 6061-T6 aircraft aluminum with hard gold
anodized finish and have a stainless steel iron. The iron has a 6mm thread and fits
most popular spearpoints.
The butt plug with black surgical rubber installed is made of aluminum with a black
anodized finish.
Use
Your JBL Travel Polespear is convenient to transport and use. Because the poles are
hollow they are light to carry. When preparing for use, the poles should be allowed to fill
with water. This makes them heavy, increasing their range and impact in the water.
On all models the butt plug can be screwed into the tapered portion, making a short
pole for close quarters in reefs and around rocks. On the 2D72, you can make a 2’, 4’,
or a 6’ pole by your choice of extensions. On all models you may vary the length of the
rubber loop extending from the butt plug. First, unscrew the plug and pull both ends
about 1/2” away from the plug to loosen the rubber. Next pull the end without the lump
in it either in or out to adjust the length of the loop. Finally pull both ends back into the
plug and re-attach the plug. This allows you to shorten or lengthen your power stroke to
compensate for conditions. If the rubber sling develops a bad spot, you can adjust the
loop so that the bad spot does not affect use of your spear.
Maintenance
Before storing, be sure to drain all salt water from within the poles. Rinse the poles
inside and out with fresh water and allow to dry. A small amount of lubrication is helpful
on all the treads. It is especially important to remove the butt plug from the pole, for if it
is left attached, it tends to seize, and you will not be able to remove it. You should apply
a rubber protectant to the sling and store it in a cool, dark location where it will not dry
out. With proper care you will enjoy your JBL Travel Polespear for many years.
Good Hunting!
