1stAnnual White Oak Pastures BBQ
Memorial Weekend May 22 & 23, 2015
Fort Gaines 200 welcomes you to our first ever BBQ Challenge and thanks you for your support! Our goal is to make this an annual event and we need your input,
suggestions, and ideas. We look forward to growing it with you . Please let us know what we can do to make this event the best it can be!
Here’s some things you’ll need to know:
Historic Fort Gaines, Georgia is located on the Bluff of the famous Chattahoochee River approximately 75 miles down River from Columbus. Two
miles North of town is Walter F. George Lake. The Lake occupies an impressive 85 miles of the Chattahoochee River, separating Alabama and
Georgia with 48,000 acres of fresh water perfect for boating, fishing, skiing and swimming. Also, with 640 miles of shoreline, 13 Corps of Engineers
day use parks and four adjoining campgrounds, the Lake is an ideal place for camping, outdoor and water-related activities. The Lake is famous
for it’s world record bass and it’s natural beauty. It’s truly one of the best kept secrets in Georgia! We want everyone to have a great time in Fort
Gaines, so please bring your family and friends (including your 4 legged ones) and spend the weekend with us and see why we love calling
Fort Gaines “home”!
We will be having all of the BBQ Challenge Cook Teams on the “Top Level” of Frontier Village which is located on the corner of Carroll St. West &
Bluff St. South. The music stage, art & craft vendors, as well other food vendors will be located on the “Lower Level” of Frontier Village which is
on Jackson St. South. Additional parking for cook teams and other vendors will be available on Carroll St.West as well as behind the tennis courts
between Jackson St. North and Bluff St. North. Please see the highlighted areas on the map. The Pit master of each team must be a GBA member.
Fort Gaines 200 will deduct the $35 GBA membership fee off of our entry fee for brand new GBA teams. Please note this on your entry form if
this applies to your team. Arrival time for cook teams starts at 4pm Thursday, May 21. Cook teams must be set up and have all unnecessary
vehicles/trailers out of cook area by 4pm Friday unless other arrangements are made ahead of time. Departure time for cook teams will begin
after the awards ceremony Saturday. However, teams may stay at Frontier Village thru Sunday, May 24 til noon. There will be a street dance
downtown on Carroll St. East hosted by KJ’s Grilling Company Saturday night. For more info. on the street dance call KJ’s at 229.768.2138.
