Nutrio’s Garden
SPONSORED ENTIRELY BY NUTRIO’S GARDEN, OUR MISSION IS TO PROVIDE A MEDIUM
OF HALAL, NUTRITIOUS PRODUCTS AT CONVENIENT PRICES. We crave to satisfy the meatlovers, the health nuts, and even the picky eaters. Nevertheless, our purpose goes beyond
one’s taste palates. Aside from guaranteed customer satisfaction, EetnFead is driven by the
prominent desire to offer bare necessities to underprivileged beings. In fact, a significant
percentage of revenue is donated to non-profit organizations such as Nutrio Global in which
contributions go towards the funding of projects.
Currently, EetnFead funds Nutrio’s Nomads, a project that aims to provide a medium of
food and hygienic products for the homeless- something that is least available to them on
the streets. Through this project, care packages that contain essential items are distributed
amongst homeless and needy beings.
As individuals who have been blessed in countless ways, we often forget about our brothers
and sisters who are not as fortunate as us. We complain about trivial matters when there are
those who dream to be in our shoes- even for a moment. EetnFead is your opportunity to
make a change for others and for yourself. Support us in our mission by following these two
simple steps: eat and feed.

A Look in the Mirror
Dr. Raymond Brock Murray, HSC 401
In today’s society, youth face a large variety of complex self-esteem related issues - many of
which often lead to a negative self-image that can cause them to limit themselves. As Muslims,
we are taught to value ourselves and everyone around us in a manner that begets positivity and
productivity. In this workshop, Dr. Murray will address self-esteem problems relating to subjects
such as body image, our appearance as Muslims, hopelessness, and many others!
6:30PM-7:30PM
Who are your “Sahaba”?
Nabiha Zakir, Amphitheatre 1
“A person is on the way of life of his friend. Therefore, he should think very carefully whom
he is making a friend with.” (Tirmidhi, Abu Dawood). Learn about what criteria defines a good
friend, how to find good friends and how to keep good friends. Be prepared for stories from our
sahaba about the importance of companionship in Islam along with ideas on what modern day
psychology has to offer us in regard to the company we keep.

Shaykh Zaid Khan, HSC 401
In today’s ever-changing world, many argue that Islam is a thing of the past. How do we tackle
that sentiment? Do we simply cave in and change the Deen or do we change ourselves and the
world around us? We have an opportunity to alter the narrative on Islam through our actions
and upholding the Islamic identity. Although it is easier said than done, maintaining this identity is
crucial to staying steadfast upon your values and moving forward in the right direction.

MIST Clinic: Curing the Selfie Syndrome
Omar Shareef, Amphitheatre 1
Ever feel compelled to stop your productivity, whip your phone out, take a selfie of yourself, and
then snap/tweet/Facebook/IG/email/snailmail/carrierpigeon/smokesignal your beautiful visage to the world? After doing so, do you feel an overwhelming compulsion to constantly check to
see how many views/retweets/likes/comments you’re accumulating? Do these numbers grant
you a heightened sense of self-worth and validation? Then it’s possible that you might be suffering
from Selfie Syndrome. Selfie Syndrome affects over a million youths all over the 1st world, but
thanks to advancements in modern medicine (and common sense) it’s a condition that’s treatable. If you or your loved ones are afflicted by this syndrome, please attend this session.

Civic Responsibility:
10:40AM-11:40AM From the Prophet to the Present
CAIR NY - Imam Kemal Cecunjanin and Afaf Nasher,
Amphitheatre 1
Imam Kemal Cecunjanin and attorney Afaf Nasher from CAIR NY wiill offer us a historical perspective on how the Messenger (SAWS) engaged his community in civic activism and a present
picture of why we need it to challenge Islamophobia and engage our community to advocate
for our rights.
Money, More Problems
10:40AM-11:40AM More
Imam Anas Shaikh, Alumni Auditorium
Ever heard of the phrase “more money, more problems?” Well it gets more relevant as you progress
through life. Money management is an important skill for people of all demographics; whether you’re an 8
year proprietor running your own lemonade stand, or an 80 year old man waiting for the next social security
check. Believe it or not, it is also a part of our Deen and the longest ayah in the Qur’an is the ayah of debt
(2:282). It is also narrated in Bukhari and Muslim that one of the du’a’s the Prophet (SAWS) used to make
at the end of every salah was seeking refuge in Allah from heavy debt. He said, “When a man gets into
debt, he speaks and tells lies, and he makes a promise and breaks it.” What practical measures can we take
to spend our money wisely?

the Most of Mental Health
11:45AM-12:45PM Making
Maryum Khwaja, Alumni Auditorium
Work, school, relationships and obligations can all take a toll on the mental health of a person.
How do we cope with problems on a day-to-day basis? You will be faced with stress and obstacles
throughout every stage of your life and it is imperative to know how to handle these situations.
If you want to learn the importance of studying mental health and some ways to conquer your
stress, then this workshop is for you.
and Spirituality
11:45AM-12:45PM Technology
Dr. Komal Magsi, Amphitheatre 1
Technology and innovation are rooted deep within Islamic history and Muslims scientists such
as Ibn Sina, Khwarizmi and others are recognized as innovators who took the world by storm,
introducing fundamental concepts of algebra, physics, alchemy and economics. As the age of innovation continues to advance, our role in accelerating technology for social good is instrumental.
Islam honors those who help others as noted in a hadith of Ahmad “ My love is guaranteed for
two who help one another for My sake”. Even if we were to help one person that would be sufficient, as noted in Surah Ma’idah verse 32, “And whoever saves one life - it is as if he had saved
all of mankind.” This workshop will begin with a brief introduction to remarkable tools that are
changing philanthropy and allowing millions of people in impoverished communities to have better
lives. You will then have an opportunity to work in groups and use design thinking principles from
Stanford University d.school to create sustainable solutions for water and food shortage, educating women and girls, the energy crisis, increased safety for children, rape, and infectious diseases.

Most of us know the importance of having sincerity in our worship of the Creator but what about
sincerity with your family, friends, teachers and basically anyone you know and meet? The Prophet
(S) was known for his genuine love and care for others - so much so that all of his companions felt
as if he loved them the most. How do we cultivate this sincerity in our actions and dealings with
people? To improve our ties, we have to turn towards the Prophetic model and teachings.

nnaseeha is a movement to reignite the passion within the youth in order to
A
increase spirituality and productivity. Our advisors are rooted in the community
and are believers in the “reach them before you teach them” method. Through
recreational events and spiritual retreats, Annaseeha aims to empower the youth
with Islam through integrity, perseverance and positivity.
One of our largest projects is the Annaseeha Basketball League (ABL). It is a tournament open to all the Muslim youth of New York City, and has a junior and senior
league. A feature of our league is A.I.M. (Annaseeha in Majlis): informal, informative Halaqas that are held on game days for the competing teams. Alhumdulillah,
we have successfully completed 2 seasons and are currently in the 2015 season.
At Moe’s Doughs, we make fresh donuts, pastries,
breakfast and lunch sandwhiches. Best part? Everything is halal.
