Challenge: Project leader was tasked
by Malawi’s government to estimate
crop production before harvest with a
5% precision.
Solution & Results: Thanks to SPOT
6/7 data, the survey of 960 fields was
carried out in just 3 weeks. The
system will now be extended to the
entire country.
Benefits: Early and concise
information supports food security,
warehouse management,
infrastructure requirements.
Applicability: For most crops
and in any geography, this
solution is effective, precise and
yet cost effective when compared
to any other national ag-statistics
programme.

Contract signed by end 2011 for supporting Ghana in forest
monitoring, using remote sensing Technology from Astrium

Objectives of the project:
