Airbus Group arrives at LAAD 2015 to reinforce its commitment to
Latin America
Rio de Janeiro, April 9 2015 - Once again, Airbus Group will be participating in one of Latin
America’s most important Shows: LAAD Defence & Security in Rio de Janeiro.
From April 14 to April 17, at Riocentro in Rio de Janeiro, Airbus Group will display many key
products and technologies from its Defence and Space and Helicopters divisions. Amongst
other objectives, the Group intends to highlight its partnership with Brazil, as well as its
commitment and successful investment in the country over many decades.
While the
company’s Helibras subsidiary is the best example of direct investment in Brazil by any global
defence or aerospace company, Airbus Group interests span civil aircraft, military transport
aircraft, security and surveillance solutions, as well as space and satellite systems. Notable at
the Show will be Airbus Helicopters’ new H145, making its Brazilian debut in a month-long
demonstration tour across the country; and Airbus Defence and Space will present its new
AstroBus XS optical Earth Observation satellite system.
“LAAD is a truly international event and demonstrates that for Airbus Group, Brazil and Latin
America are more than key markets. The wider continent is a business partner and strategic
ally where we provide technologically advanced solutions for companies and governments,”
commented Alberto Robles, Head of Latin America for Airbus Group.
“This will be our first LAAD as Airbus Group and this one brand name is important: for within the
group we do more than make civil aircraft, we help secure borders, we protect airspace, we
monitor climate change, we protect from cyber-attacks and we help the emergency services,”
said Bruno Gallard, CEO of Airbus Group in Brazil.
Currently, Airbus Group has more than 1400 employees in Latin America located at seventeen
sites across seven countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Mexico and Peru).
In Brazil alone, the company has nearly 900 employees.

Recent successful projects in Brazil include being the official provider of communications
networks for police forces during the FIFA World Cup. Airbus Defence and Space has
implemented the only national integrated digital secure radiocommunication network - the
Tetrapol network for the Federal Police Department; and Spot Image is providing Brazilian
government departments with a competitive “fixed-price menu” of high resolution satellite
images.
On Stand R50 at LAAD, Airbus Group will feature the following models and exhibits:
