This is a position within the dynamic GIS Department, which is currently experiencing exciting technological growth with respect to spatial modelling and analytical capabilities. This position will involve GIS mapping and modelling, conducting topography and visual impact assessments as well as general project work. Requirements: • Preferably qualified in Geography / GIS or other relevant environmental field (B.Sc. (Hons) or B.A (Hons) minimum. • ArcGIS must have been covered as part of the degree. • Must have a valid Driver’s license. • The candidate must be willing to travel locally and internationally where needed as part of field work programmes. • Knowledge of the applicable environmental and mining legislation is preferable. • Understanding of database structures (geodatabase, MS Access, SQL) would be beneficial. • Must be proficient in ArcGIS. • The candidate must want to expand their knowledge on the use and application of GIS in the environmental industry as well as be willing to assist in other areas of the department’s functioning where required. • Personality requirements include being able to handle pressure and meet deadlines, imagination and creativity, exceptional quality of work, logic and scientific thinking, accuracy and good error detection. Professionalism, enthusiasm to learn, and develop in a dynamic environment is vital. • Creative problem solver. • Good verbal and written skills. • Positive and proactive approach.
