Field Monitor Pro is a professional portable monitor designed for two modes of connectivity: 1. For laptops and desktops through USB (PC and Mac). 2. For HDMI devices such as iPad®, iPhone®, iPod® touch, other similar HDMI handheld devices, computers with HDMI output, and even standard DVD players. The following pages show how to configure USB and HDMI connectivity. Please note that USB and HDMI connectivity cannot be used simultaneously; however, if both USB and HDMI are connected at the same time, Field Monitor Pro will default to USB mode. We recommend that you update the DisplayLink driver periodically at www.displaylink.com/support/downloads.php 2 Open the install software on the CD. Click “I Accept” to accept the terms. 3 The DisplayLink driver will automatically install. The flat end (USB-A) inserts into host computer’s USB-A port. 5 The small, flat end (USB mini-B) inserts into Field Monitor Pro’s USB-B port. Field Monitor Pro’s USB-B port is next to the “power on” button on the left side of the unit. USB-A 4 6 Connect to external power with supplied power supply and cord. Insert power cord into Field Monitor Pro’s “power in” port. POWER ON 7 7 Turn on Field Monitor Pro by pressing the “power on” button. USB-B 5 Within seconds, Field Monitor Pro’s screen will illuminate. For screen orientation, use the USB display icon in the system tray or adjust your host computer’s monitor settings in the display control panel. 6 Copyright © 2012 Mobile Monitor Technologies, LLC — Field Monitor Pro® Quick Start Guide (FMP156HDv01) For HDMI Connectivity (Connecting Field Monitor Pro to HDMI output devices such as iPad®, iPhone®, iPod® touch, other mobile devices with HDMI output, laptops with HDMI output, and even DVD players.) Field Monitor Pro has a standard HDMI port on its base. Simply insert your device’s HDMI male plug into this port. For connectivity to Apple® products, please follow steps 1-2. You will need an Apple Digital AV Adapter (not included). If you do not have this connector, you can purchase it directly from Apple. 1 Insert the included HDMI adapter plug into the HDMI port on Field 1. Monitor Pro. 2. Insert the other end of the included HDMI adapter plug into the 2 HDMI port of the Apple Digital AV Adapter. Then, simply plug the other end of the Apple Digital AV Adapter into the iPad®, iPhone®, or iPod® touch. Note: If you would like your Apple device to have a longer cable connection to Field Monitor Pro, you can use a standard HDMI male/male cable. In this instance you do not need to use the included HDMI adapter plug. Simply attach one end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI port in the Apple Digital AV Adapter, and the other end into the HDMI port on Field Monitor Pro. Apple Digital AV Adapter 1 2 HDMI male/male cable + Apple Digital AV Adapter Copyright © 2012 Mobile Monitor Technologies, LLC — Field Monitor Pro® Quick Start Guide (FMP156HDv01) Using Field Monitor Pro Using Field Monitor Pro in “Share” Mode You can rotate the screen clockwise OR counter-clockwise but DO NOT ROTATE PAST 180 DEGREES in either direction as this will break the pivot hinge. Thus, when returning the screen to its start position, always rotate it back from the direction it came. Example: Clockwise to open. STOP HERE Counter-clockwise to close. IMPORTANT: Screen does NOT rotate 360 degrees —Do not force screen past its natural “STOP” position since this will break the hinge. Using Field Monitor Pro in “Stand” Mode From “share mode”, simply angle the screen back onto the base. Then, release stand from base by pulling stand out. Position stand at desired viewing angle in either landscape or portrait views. Landscape...
