GLACIAL HERITAGE AREA PADDLE VOLUNTER CORPS 2015 SCHEDULE For current schedule, visit: www.glacialheritagearea.org To join mailing list or to get a free GHA Watertrails Map: [email protected] Facebook: Glacial Heritage Area The GHA Paddle Volunteer Corps, under the guidance of Jefferson County Parks Department, works to improve paddling within the Glacial Heritage Area by debris and garbage removal from watertrails. The Corps also leads group paddles throughout the region. Work Days (Weekday work groups will be scheduled as needed. All put in/take out numbers reference the GHA Watertrails Map.) Saturday, May 30 - Koshonong Creek, Cambridge to Rockdale, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. Meet at parking lot behind Cambridge Public Library, corner of West Water Street and Spring Water Alley, put in 69. Some volunteers will work from the water via paddle craft, and others will work from the banks of Creek via CamRock trails (use a bicycle or drive and walk to the work area). If interested, join other volunteers for lunch at Heather’s in Rockdale, near take out 70. A group will also work after lunch to clear debris south of Rockdale to Hoopen Road. Saturday, August 22 - Maunesha River, details TBD. Weekend Paddles (All put in/take out numbers reference the GHA Watertrails Map.) Saturday, May 16 - Red Cedar Lake Paddle - starts and ends at Brosig Lane Launch site ( number 13 on map) off Highway 12, east of Cambridge (look for our GHA paddle sign). 9 a.m. meeting time, approximately two hour paddle. RSVP requested at [email protected]. Personal boats only (no rentals available), but we will have volunteer craft available for use. Saturday, July 11 - Bark River Paddle – Put in 48 at Burnt Village Park (County Hwy N) to take out 65, Fort Atkinson Public Launch (N. Water Street West). 9:45 a.m. meeting time. Paddle craft rental and transport assistance available. Contact Clare at [email protected] to reserve a rental boat. Fall paddle TBD. Tuesday, May 12 – Rock River – Put in is on the lower Rock at the Senior Center in Watertown, SW corner of parking lot. Take out is at County Road Y just west of Hwy 26 and south of Watertown. Bring lunch in waterproof bag. PFD is required, hat and sunglasses are suggested. Rain date is Wednesday. Please contact Kasy at 608.222.0746 by Monday (week of paddle) 5 p.m. to participate. Thursday, May 28 – Rock River – Put in is on the middle Rock in Pipersville, south of town and east on County Road P, just over the bridge. Take out is on the north of the first Watertown dam at the small access, right side. Bring lunch in a waterproof bag. PFD required, hat and sunglasses suggested. Rain date is Friday. Vehicle shuttle starts at 10 a.m. Please contact Kasy at 608.222.0746 by Tuesday (week of the paddle) 5 p.m. to participate. Wednesday Morning Paddles with paddle leader Bob Magnussen. Contact trip leader at [email protected] by 6 pm night before paddle to join. Please be unloaded and ready to shuttle at the put in location by 10 a.m. In case of inclement weather, paddlers will be contacted and the paddle will be rescheduled to Thursday. o May 20 on Crawfish River, put in 31 to take out 33. o June 3 on Crawfish River, put in 33 to take out 34, or Koshonong Creek put in 69 to take out 70. o June 17 on Bark River or other location TBD. Friday, August 28 - Rock Lake, Bartels Beach (5 S. Ferry Drive, Lake Mills), meeting time 5:00 pm for swimming at sand beach and picnic dinner, launch at 7:00 pm for full moon cruise of Rock Lake.
