The failure of a saw chain or circular saw on mechanised harvesting equipment can result in projectiles
being thrown at extremely high speeds. The risk of these projectiles entering the cabin and injuring the
operator is high and ensuring that the windows provide certified protection from this risk is extremely
important. ArbourShield® has been tested to provide protection against this risk whilst providing clear
and unobstructed vision.

Clarity & Visibility
ArbourShield® uses a combination of glass and high grade poly-composites to offer superior clarity and
strength. ArbourShield® has a laminated glass exterior, which allows the use of wipers without scratching,
allowing clearer visibility in all conditions. Unlike traditional polycarbonate products, ArbourShield® can
be cleaned with standard cleaning agents on the exterior without becoming discoloured or damaged.
ArbourShield® E - Solar Controlled
The special Low Emissivity coating on the inside of the glass greatly reduces the solar energy from
transmitting through the windscreen (39% reduction), reducing glare and heat, making the entire cabin
a more enjoyable space to work in during those hot summer months. Also in the winter months the
Low Emissivity coating reflects the heat in the cab back inside again, reducing heat loss and conserving
energy from the cab heaters.

Need a solution for stronger and safer windscreens?
ArbourShield® Mining protection glass is the ultimate high impact windscreen and has been extensively
impact tested and proven to be over 10x stronger and more impact resistant than standard laminated
windscreens of the same thickness.
The 7.8mm thick ArbourShield® ARBCL08 resists a 90mm diameter hardened steel ball weighing 2.72kg,
travelling at over 100km/h without breaking through. In comparison, standard 8.76mm laminated glass
used in many vehicle windscreens today will only resist the same impact at under 21km/h, and the
commonly used 9mm Heat Reflecting Laminated windscreens will only resist this impact at under
35km/h. ArbourShield® is by far the safest and most resilient windscreen to put your drivers behind.
The amazing new ArbourShield® laminate uses the latest technology to allow maximum stretch and
bounce without perforation, thus offering an unmatched strength and performance.
ArbourShield® High Impact Windscreens have been tested and certified for on road use throughout
Australia and New Zealand, certified to AS/NZS 2080:2006 - Safety Glazing for Land Vehicles. Subjected
to a series of rigorous tests, ArbourShield® has withstood clarity, distortion, luminous transmittance,
ageing, impact, fracture and adhesion quality control tests to show its real value to users.

Where there is a requirement for FOPS (falling objects protective structures) or OPS (operator protective
structures) ArbourShield® PG uses a combination of glass and high grade poly-composites to offer
superior protection to operators of heavy machinery, whilst offering very clear vision from the cabins,
increasing safety and productivity all round.
ArbourShield® comes in many different thicknesses and makeups, specifically designed to withstand
particular impact criteria, whether it’s a steel cannon ball weighing 2.72kg, a solid steel weight of 227kg
or even a bullet from a 9mm handgun to replicate high velocity lighter weight objects.

Successfully tested against chainstrike to the G0 level (9mm handgun) as per AS/NZS 2343:1997,
which is a 7.4gm bullet travelling at 405m/s to replicate a piece of chain. ArbourShield® has also been
successfully tested against thrown sawteeth (an 800gm four pointed sawtooth travelling at over 400km/h
without penetrating)

Pressure test (ISO 8084:2003): Over 2200KG applied through a 90mm sphere and held for one minute at
five different locations on the panel. This test simulates branches and other penetrating objects entering
the cabin. ArbourShield® passed this test with at least 80% above the standard’s requirement!
Pressure test (ISO 10262:1998): Level 1, Static test requires absorbed energy of 700J. Level 2 - Static
test requires absorbed energy of 5800J. Actual energy absorbed before failure in ARB34 was 11,600,
exceeding test requirements by 100%.

Installation
In order to comply with OPS Standards, ArbourShield® must be installed into an OPS certified structural
frame. Glazing must be done in accordance with our recommended procedures using the correct sealants
and should be certified by a CPEng. Ask us for the ArbourShield® installation Manual: W14.1.29. Glazing
with a structural sealant such as Simson MSR C.A SSKF is also recommended for added performance.
Glasshape® can also supply ArbourShield® in a fully certified OPS frame system, ready to fix onto your
certified cabin.
