Please remember the Civic Center will no longer be a polling place on election day. Question of the Week Road Work Continues this Week Street repairs began this week on Fawell Boulevard from S. Kenilworth Avenue. to the S curve and on Oak Street from Grand Avenue to Main Street. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained on Fawell. The intersection at Park Boulevard and Oak Street will be closed for the remainder of the week. Please be alert for detour signs. The expected date to reopen this intersection is Saturday, April 4. Please drive with caution in these areas. Glen Ellyn Among the Safest Cities The Village of Glen Ellyn was ranked one of the 100 safest places to live in the United States according to NeighborhoodScout.com Glen Ellyn ranked 55 out of the top 100 cities nationwide and ranked 9th in Illinois. New Branch & Brush Collection Guidelines While Branch & Brush collection will not begin until May, it is important for residents to note that new guidelines are in place for 2015. Branches may not exceed 10 inches in diameter. Also, no root balls, dimensional lumber or any material exceeding the 10-inch dimensions. The maximum size of a brush pile should be 4 feet high x 8 feet wide x 20 feet long. Larger piles will not be removed. Professionally cut trimmings are not included. The new guidelines will help save on costs for the Branch & Brush Collection Program. Brush & Branch collection occurs once a month starting in May and ending in October. Collection occurs on the second Monday of the month for Hill Avenue and north of Hill Avenue. Collection occurs on the third Monday of the month for homes located south of Hill Avenue. Last year, the Village partnered with Le Bouscat, France to become Sister Cities. Come experience French food, culture and a variety of French inspired items for sale. Visitors have the ability to choose from different French Cuisine items and sweets from multiple restaurants and local vendors. The event also includes beer and wine which will be available for purchase. Come visit and support vendors from Glen Ellyn and DuPage County as they showcase their French flair with food and a variety of different items including antiques, clothes and specialty items. An accordion player will also be serenading guests with French music to transform the Civic Center with a French Street Market feel. Visitors will be able to win prizes as part of a drawing to help fundraise for future Sister City events. There will also be games and prizes for children. The event is free and open to the public.
