chord
is a group of notes played at the same time. On the guitar, this means playing more than one string at once. This is called a
strum. To start, we will learn 3 basic chords. Think of the
chord diagrams
as pictures of your guitar neck. The vertical lines represent the strings. The horizontal lines represent the frets. The numbered circles are where you place your fingers. An “x” above a string indicates which strings
should not be played.
An “o” means to play that string open. These exercises are for practicing chords, they are NOT a step. Practice them before you go on to step 6. 8 STEP 6 WILD THING STEP 7 LIGHTLY ROW (duet) One partner plays the melody, one plays the chords. Then switch, and play again. 9 NOTES ON THE FOURTH STRING 10 STEP 8 JOSHUA STEP 9 STAR WARS 11 STEP 10 SIMPLE GIFTS (duet) 12 GRADING RUBRIC 1 2 3 4 Performance Student did not perform for the class.
