having the lowest centre of gravity possible. That’s the ethos of Subaru
BRZ thinking. Every element – from flat, horizontally-opposed engine,
to roofline and even seat positioning – is designed to give you one of the
lowest centres of gravity in any production car.
SPORTS CAR DRIVETRAIN
A completely symmetrical layout puts the Subaru Boxer engine’s
crankshaft directly in line with the driveshaft – for straight-through
power delivery and stability with awesome dynamic agility. The rear
wheel drive also means we could move the engine farther back, to give
you even more precise control over cornering attitudes. We coupled this
sure-footed platform with a newly-designed quick ratio steering system
that’s tuned to react with pin-point accuracy and immediate response
to your every input.

Simple, lightweight design with extensive use of hightensile steel not only sheds pounds, but makes the chassis
more rigid and precise. The aluminium bonnet lightens
even more, while it accentuates the virtues of keeping the
centre of gravity lower down.
Fully-independent, naturally, to bring out the best of the
Subaru BRZ’s responsiveness. MacPherson-type front
struts maximise rigidity, giving a feeling of direct control
by letting the Subaru Boxer engine be mounted even lower
in the chassis. At the rear, sophisticated double wishbones
soak up bumps without sacrificing driving feel.
