A week of Batik
There are so many ways to create designs with a wax resist
method! We will explore a variety of techniques using crayons,
paint, wax, dye, fabric and paper. After all the fun, you will
have some new art to wear, display and share. Morning, ages
6 to 8; afternoon, 9 to 11.
Rainbow Recorder
Learn how to play the recorder in a fun and
motivating way! Basics on rhythm, note
names, reading music, and fingerings on
the recorder will be covered. No experience
necessary. We will play games, read stories
about music and create unique pieces of art.
You will get your very own personal recorder.
Morning only, ages 6 to 8.
Playing With Colors
Come and enjoy a week full of color using different paints and unusual materials like milk,
liquid soap and food coloring. Each day we
will begin with a storybook for inspiration. You
won’t believe what an incredible artist you will
become at the end of this colorful week.
Afternoon only, ages 6 to 8.
Clay Play
Get your hands dirty during a week of “clay
play”. We will use hand-building techniques
working with a variety of “clays” to create animal pinch pots, textured mosaics, decorative
tiles, coil pots, creative mini-sculptures and
much more! We will end this fun week creating
beautiful and delicious edible art using rolling
and cut-out techniques. Morning, ages 6 to 8;
afternoon, 8 to 11.
Music Explorers
We will travel across the world exploring different musical traditions and cultures. Stops will be
made in Africa, Greece, Arabia, Indonesia and
Cuba. You will learn about the characteristics of
each country’s music, the different instruments
and the role music plays in everyday life. There
will be live demonstrations of instruments and we
will make replicas to keep. Morning, ages 9 to 11;
afternoon, 6 to 8.
Color Exploration
Let’s explore color in a variety of ways. Learn why our eyes
see things the way they do and do some experiments with
color. Create a unique color wheel and experience the effect
of colors, value, tone, tints and more. We will also experiment
with optical illusions and glow-in-the-dark paintings. Afternoon
only, ages 9 to 11.
Books that Fold, Turn, Twist & Pop
In this class, you will explore several fun (and functional)
book forms based on folded pages: accordion, maze,
concertina with flags, and accordion with simple popups. Once you’ve learned how to make a book, you
will create poems, stories, pictures and maps to fill the
pages. Along the way, you will learn about the history
of books and some traditional ways to make decorative
papers for covers and end papers. Morning only, ages 9
to 11. (Note: This camp will be offered again during July
with a twist for those who enjoyed it and would like to
take it again.)
Let’s call it Collage or Assemblage!
Inspired by different master artists, you will create
collages and assemblages of different forms and
materials (paper, fabric, yarn, glue, paint, wood)
transforming them into beautiful pieces of 2D and
3D art. Animals, flowers, landscapes, mystical
creatures, your imagination is the limit creating your
own masterpieces! Morning, ages 6 to 8; afternoon,
9 to 11.
Tropical Islands Art Escape!
We will travel around the world in a virtual tour and
discover the magnificent nature of some Tropical
Islands. Get to know the people who live there,
their artistic expressions and cultures. We will paint
beautiful seascapes, colorful coral reefs, exotic
birds and flowers creating wonderful pieces of 2D
and 3D art. Morning, ages 9 to 11; afternoon, 6 to
8.
