May 29 th : 5th Grade Field Trip Again this year our yearbook will be FULL color!!! You won’t want to miss out. The cost is only $15 per book, for 52 pages of color memories for your child of their year here at Gilbert Park! It will contain pictures from various events throughout the year, spirit days, recess fun, assemblies, etc. Check your student’s Wednesday folder for an order form. If you cannot locate one, you can attach a check to a note with child’s name & teacher. Important Information The Gilbert Park Student Talent Show is coming! This all-‐
school event will be by AUDITION ONLY, which means you have to present your awesome talent to teachers in a special appointment you m ake with them, before you are allowed to show it to the whole school. This also means that even if you have an amazing talent, not every student will be able to perform. (But we still think you are AWESOME, anyways!) Below is some information to help you organize ideas for your presentation.... NO SCH OOL

WHAT IS allowed (in groups or alone): Singing, Dancing, Magic Tricks, Science Experiments, Juggling, Bicycle Tricks, Jokes, Poetry Reading, Art, Acting, Sports/ Physical Talents, Playing an Instrument, Reader’s Theater, Your Clever Idea, etc... (use of technology is encouraged, if your talent would b e difficult to “show” in an assembly format). WHAT IS NOT allowed: Lip-‐syncing (pretend singing), music with explicit lyrics (even if they are “bleeped out”), anything that may be viewed as inappropriate for school, or dangerous. THINGS YOU MUST HAVE READY: 1. Your wonderful talent m ust be practiced and PRACTICED! 2. You must b e ready to SPEAK (briefly) to the audience about your talent. 3. You must have any PROPS, COSTUMES, SUPPLIES that you need, ready to go. 4. You must have PARENT PERMISSION to present at the talent show. Maximum, 2-‐3 m inutes per presentation... that’s not much time! AUDITION DATES: Students will need family transportation to or from school if they plan to audition. Monday May 18th through Thursday May 21st. Before and after school times are available.
