Summer School 2015
„Field Phenotyping“
08. – 19.06.2015
Campus Klein-Altendorf
CROP.SENSe.net is an innovative, interdisciplinary network, which aim is to support the application of modern sensor technology for plant phenotyping. This will
improve the selection efficiency in plant breeding and field management. This
year’s summer school will focus on field phenotyping topics. Therefore, course
work will take place at the Campus Klein-Altendorf (CKA). The conditions of the
CKA allow a detailed observation of the shoot and root traits (“shovelomics”).
Keynote lectures will be given on soil analysis, methods for shoot and root phenotyping, the layout of proper experimental design and its statistical evaluation.
In addition, workshops on image analysis and data management are offered.
Target Audience & Application
The workshop is open for PhD students and early phase postdoctoral researchers
with a background in agricultural science, informatics or biology, working in the
field of plant phenotyping or precision agriculture. Basic knowledge on sensor
methods and data analysis is necessary. The workshop is open to a maximum of
20 scientists. Applicants are asked to briefly describe their background and motivation for attending in up to 10 lines. We will review applications in the order of
their arrival. Participants of the summer school are asked to prepare a poster of
their research topic which will be discussed and presented during the course.
Applications with an enclosed short CV are accepted via e-mail (Prof. Dr. Jens Léon, [email protected]; Prof. Dr. Uwe Rascher, [email protected])
until 15.05.2014).
