Apply the mixture before you wash your hair. Things You will Need Keeping curls happy isn’t easy, and finding the right ingriednat that your curls can be happy with is sometimes a hassle. So making your own moisture is sometimes the best plan, especially if your curls are fussy. Below is a recipe that I think your curls might like. Especially if you have 4 typed hair like me. If not try it as a hair mask or better yet if you find that the recipe is too heavy dilute it with your favourite conditioner. Things You will need. • ¼ cup Rose Water : Rose water is distilled and is anti-bacterial, antiseptic and is abundant with Vitamins A C D B3 • ¼ cup Soy bean Oil: soybean oil is rich in protein, and will help strengthen your hair. • 1 cup Cacao Butter: acts has a protective barrier for hair, nourishes and softens the hair shaft. Rich in Vitamin E which aides in keeping the hair follicles and scalp healthy. • ¼ Jojoba Oil: its extremely moisturizing for the scalp, balances sebum production, prevents hair loss by unblocking hair follicles by balancing sebum production on the scalp. • 2 table spoons Panthenol,: Binds the hair shaft immediately, moisturizers, improves hairs ability to retain moisture, improves hairs elasticity, improves hairs flexibility. • • 1 teaspoon Hydrolysed Silk : excellent for moisture pretensions, its hydroscopic and holds 10 000 times its water in weight. superior conditioning properties. Steps to take Using the double boiler method. 1. Warm up to the rose water 2. Add the hydrolysed silk 3. Heat up the cacao butter until it’s a creamy consistency Add the jojoba oil Add the soybean oil Using a hand held blender, blend until its thoroughly mixed and add the mixture you should have put to the side. 5. Keep the mixture warm in a double boiler as you mix making it easier for the mixture to bind and blend into each other. 6. Then add the first batch, that is the hydrolysed silk, panthenol and rose water Get great hair everyday tips and tricks. • • • • • • • • • Always Pre- Poo before washing with a moisturizing substance Always use a sulphate free shampoo Always condition your hair after washing Always rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar, to close the cuticles on the hair shaft Always use a gentle micro fibre towel to dry your hair. Never dry your hair rubbing vigorously, this will only lead to frizzy hair . Always use a leave in conditioner Always use a oil sealant. Never, manipulate hair to much when wet, that only leads to breakage You can make your own Vatika oil at home, Vatika oil, is mostly Coconut oil mixed with herbs and as we know coconut oil is great for helping the hair retain its protein D.I.Y Vatika Oil 2 Cups 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon 1 Tablespoon 1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil Henna Powder Alma Powder Marshmallow root Powder Stinging nettle Hibiscus powder Mix the oils with the herbs and allow to simmer on a low stove setting for 2-4 hours allow to cool over night, and you have made your own Vatika Oil. Things You will Need 1. 1 cup Conditioner : use which ever one you deem fit, I normally stick to tresseme for co-washes. 2. ½ Coconut Oil : since coconut oil contains lauric acid, its an anti microbial, basically fights tiny germs on the scalp, preventing hair loss. Coconut oil also contains Vitamin E, to keep the skin on the scalp healthy. Coconut oil also helps hair retain its moisture 3. 1 tsp Tangerine essential oil : Is known for stimulating new cells, this will help with keeping scalp healthy, its also an antiseptic, so it will aid in keeping your scalp clean. 4. ¼ Castor oil : increases hair growth, thickens thinning hair and reduces the heat damage. Side note: The definitions of Co-Washing: is washing your hair with conditioner instead of shampoo. Benefits: Helps hair retain moisture, and helps manage new hair growth. Now with the deets: Steps to take: • Place the conditioner in a bowel • Add the coconut • Add the castor oil • Add the tangerine • Then blend, blend, blend with a hand help blender! • directions: • apply the mixture onto hair and massage in. Basically massage your head as if you were washing your hair. Then rinse with warm water, done. (Optional)Vanilla essence| few drops : you can get this for very cheap in the baking isle at the super market | I use this to make my mixes smell good, this way I want to keep using them. Side Note about Black strap Molasses: Molasses is great as a breaking hair treatment, because its loaded with pantothenc acid , Vitamin B, and Vitamin E Back to the deets— Vitamins also play an important part in growing healthy hair. But adding some Vitamins into your conditioner as well would help. • • • • Panthenol Pro-Vitamin | strengthens hair Vitamin E | Keeps the follicle and scalp healthy and nourishes the hair Biotin Vitamin H | Thickens the hair Vitamin C | Acts as a anti oxidant, slight skin exfoliate, will help with rough patches on the skins surface of the scalp Steps to take 1. 2. 3. 4. Warm the peanut butter oil using the double boiler method. Add the glycerine mix well Add your molasses to you distilled water warm in the microwave Add your conditioner to the black strap molasses. Things you will need • • • • • • • • • • • 1/3 Coconut Oil 1 tsp Xanthan Gum 2 cups Distilled water 1 tsp Panthenol ¼ cup glycerine 1/3 cup Cinnamon/Cassia Powder ½ cup Olive Oil ¼ cup Castor oil/ Jamaican Black Castor oil 1/3 cup Grape seed Oil 1 tsp Cacao extract ( can be found at your local super market in the baking isle) Handheld blender Steps to take: 1. Make a herbal tea infusion with the cinnamon powder 1 cup distilled water and strain with a cheese cloth 2. Warm the 1 cup distilled water in the microwave, please DO NOT over heat. 3. Add the Xanthum Gum 4. Blend until you get a creamy, or custard like consistency. 5. Add the glycerine blend 6. Add the Olive Oil 7. Add the Castor oil 8. Add the grape seed oil 9. Add the herbal infusion tea from the cinnamon powder 10. Blend,blend,blend at this point you should have creamy custard 11. Add the cacao extract 12. Last but not least add your panthenol 13. If its Still warm allow to cool before application Usage Directions • It’s should be a custard like substance. • Apply to co-washed hair • Cling warp • Wait under a hooded dryer for 45 minutes or use the gel pack method, use heated gel packs heated and use a ‘’cap’’ too hold them in place. • Be careful with very hot gel packs you could hurt yourself. Only heat them up until there warm and place them on your cling wraped head, and use a ‘’cap’’ scarf to hold them in place. Add the olive oil into the xanthium gum creamy solution Warm the honey and glycerine in the microwave in a different bowel until it becomes a liquid like consistency DO NOT over heat it Add the warmed honey and glycerine to the mixture of Xanthium Gum and olive oil solution you have made. Blend until you get a thick creamy consistency Add your almond oil Add your aloe Vera juice Add your drops of caramel essence Usage Direction • Apply to freshly washed hair • Cover head with cling wrap ( Cling wrap minimizes the risk of dripping and getting your clothes dirty). • Wait under a hooded dryer or heated towel. • Rinse with a apple cider rinse Things You will need. • • • • • • • • ½ cup Hibiscus leaf powder 1/3 cup Olive Oil ½ or 1 teaspoon of Xanthium Gum 1 cup Distilled Water ¼ Vitamin E ½ Coconut Oil A few drops Vanilla essence 1 Hand held blender Steps to take: 1. Boil the distilled water 2. Place the Hibiscus leaf powder and make an infusion/ Tea, strain the leaves out of the mixture using a cheese clothe 3. Leave that to the side 4. Using the double boiler Method 5. Warm up the olive oil 6. Add the coconut oil 7. As it cool add the Vitamin E oil 8. Blend with a hand held blender 9. add the xanthium Gum to the strained hibiscus infusion/tea 10. blend at this point you should have a thick pudding like substance with the hibiscus 11. now add the oils you made in the double boiler in 12. Blend 13. add your Vanilla essence 14. done Usage Directions: • • • Apply to washed clean hair Cling wrap hair for 30 minutes after application and sit under a hooded dryer or, use the heated towel method to warm the condioner on your head Rinse with a apple cider vinegar rinse and warm Things you will need: • • • • • • • 1 cup Shea Butter ½ Distilled water 1 tsp Vitamin C 1/3 cup Olive Oil 1/3 cup Glycerine A few Drops Lemon grass oil One Table spoon Jojoba oil Directions: • Dissolve the vitamin C in the Distilled water and keep it aside • Using the Double boiler method • Place the shea butter in your double boiler • Melt it until it’s a liquid consistency • Add the Olive oil • Add the glycerine • Add the lemon Grass essential oil. • Add the Jojoba Oil • As the mixture Cools add the Vitamin C liquid that you made earlier Usage Directions: • • • • Wash hair with a clarifying shampoo or Bicarbonate of Soda Towel dry with a micro fibre towel, terry clothe towels are to harsh for your hair.
