HAIR DONATION GUILDELINES Only for Hair Donation Ottawa event You should know: A Child’s Voice Foundation is a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to creating and managing programs that tangibly support and enhance the physical and emotional wellbeing of financially disadvantaged children in Canada. Through our Angel Hair for Kids Program we supply wigs and hair replacement to children in need . We do not manufacture any hair replacement products or wigs. As a foundation, we must purchase the wigs we provide for our recipients. Guidelines for acceptable donations only for Hair Donation Ottawa Event (otherwise refer to our website www.acvf.ca) st We encourage all of our donors to go to a salon or participate on April 21 to have your locks cut and donated. Here are the guidelines Hair that is slightly coloured is acceptable. No Permed or bleached hair will be accepted Hair cut years ago is usable if it has been stored in a ponytail or braid Curly hair may be pulled straight to measure the minimum of 6 inches and up For this event only we will take 6 inches and up. 12 inches measured tip to tip is the minimum length needed for a wig Hair that is swept off the floor is not usable. Hair that is shaved off and is not in a ponytail or braid is not usable. Please divide your hair into multiple ponytails and cut each one off before continuing to shave We cannot accept dreadlocks, wigs, falls, hair extensions or synthetic hair Now you are ready to cut your hair! Instructions as per Hair Donation Ottawa Event ONLY 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Please ensure your hair has been washed and it thoroughly blow-dry before it is cut. Secure ponytails or braids with rubber bands at both ends. Cut the hair above the rubber band NOT below. Make sure you have the length left on your hair that you wish to have without compromising the needed length in the donated hair Place DRY HAIR in an envelope and include the donor’s contact information so that Hair Donation Ottawa Event may send their certificate of appreciations. Special Notes: Shorter hair of (6”-10”) will be separated from the 12 inches and sold to offset the manufacturing costs of converting the 12 inch hair into wigs for our children. Gray hair will be accepted and sold to offset the manufacturing costs Over processed colour and bleached hair cannot be used. In compliance with A Child’s Voice Foundation privacy policy, A Child’s Voice Foundation does not release any information regarding the donations we receive.
