In 1985 it was subject to a buyout by the current management team. Worldwide The first few years of the company's activities were spent developing a worldwide market for glass walls on squash and racquet ball courts. This was a product which enabled the company to gain expertise in consigning and installing products for the construction industry in overseas markets. This expertise in glass was extended to the provision of Cabrillant cubicles and lockers, using ceramic painted toughened (tempered) glass. There are now in excess of 30,000 squash and racquetball courts around the world with Ellis Pearson glass wall systems and over 2000 health & fitness clubs installed with Cabrillant glass shower cubicles and an increasing number with glass lockers. Market In the early 1980's Prospec expanded its activities to include the "Marathon range" of storage lockers and cubicles using compact grade laminate panels. Initially these products were intended for public swimming pool changing areas, which can experience heavy public use, so are ideally suited for installations in all types of public buildings. As a result of Prospec's engineering and installation experience, the products have become widely accepted in the UK. Currently, "Marathon" is considered to be the market leader, in local authority swimming pool and sport centre developments. The same systems are exported in component form to a number of overseas markets including mainland Europe, the Middle and Far East, Australia, New Zealand and recently to the USA. Recent developments have widened the range to include more design-orientated products and to focus on all types of washroom and changing area needs. Cubicles Brochure.qxd 1/10/08 16:31 Page 4 introduction Prospec cubicles are either "Fully Framed Panel Cubicles" (NBS K32/112a), essential for high use and wet areas, or unframed "Panel Cubicles" (NBS K32/120a), in which case they contain specially designed components to avoid the normal problems suffered by cubicles that rely on panel media for their strength. According to type, they can incorporate a wide range of colours or patterns in compact grade laminate, toughened glass or solid surfacing materials. Prospec's expertise is in the design, manufacturing and installation of cubicles and locker hardware systems, complimented by the various panel media. symbol key Suitability Categories: The definition of a 'wet area' includes any situation, which allows the cubicle panels to be exposed to a wet or humid atmosphere or in an area with tiled/hard floor surfaces, where regular cleaning with liberal amounts of water or hosing down will occur. It has been consistently improved and updated and is now accepted as the benchmark for the use of glass in commercial shower, washroom and changing areas. There is a vast range of anodised aluminium fittings that are specifically engineered for use with toughened (tempered) glass panels, also available in toughened and laminated glass or solid surfacing panels. Other systems are often an adaption of components intended for other types of non-glass panels, without essential provisions to cope with the use of toughened glass when used in cubicle construction. specifications Cabrillant 600/700 Cabrillant's design and aesthetic appeal make it suitable for a wide range of projects, including shower and W.C. cubicles in health & fitness clubs, hotels, office buildings and most types of commercial facilities. • Designed for runs of multiple cubicles. • The Cabrillant frameless system is engineered to disperse stress with particular emphasis on the method of attaching the components to glass. • This includes mechanical and friction fit, combined with high strength adhesives. • Critical positions within the cubicles where stress and movement occur, have fixings which do not require the glass to be drilled. • The 20 micron thickness anodised aluminium finish is ideal for use in areas which require frequent cleaning. • Available with or without doors or with PVC anti-bacterial curtains. • Cubicles without doors have a small front pilaster panel to protect the front edge of divider panels for safety reasons. As well as 600 Floor Fixing front pilaster by friction fit, adjustable ground clearance. the continuous head rail to maintain stability. • During a specific test programme, fully assembled cubicles had a criteria impact resistance of 500NM in accordance with BS8200. • Support legs to 700 system, attached to partition panel 150mm inboard with through fixings, mechanical connection to front pilasters, adjustable ground clearance. • Glass panels used are toughened to BS6206 Class A. • 615 structural support posts connected mechanically to structural floor slab prior to screeding and floor finishes for large panels and island configurations. Hardware & Fittings: • Hinges, spring loaded for automatic open or closed function. Our sales team can advise on appropriate types of locker layout, lock options and available finishes. The preferred internal shape of the storage lockers should be to provide the maximum amount of clear space inside each compartment with hanging facility. This permits choice of space utilisation with jackets/sports bags accommodated as required. Whilst compartments may be sub-divided they are not user friendly, resulting in wasted space, preventing storage of larger sports bags also creating difficulties with ventilation and cleaning.
