Community Leadership Program Information for Participants Thank you for your interest in taking part in the Community Leadership Program 2015. We seek applications from individuals from varying backgrounds, experience, gender and age that are: Community volunteers Members of community groups and organisations Member of Community Plan Steering Committees Individuals who are prepared and able to commit the time and energy necessary to complete the program Program overview: The workshops will be interactive, skill based and fun! You will work with other participants to manage a community based project over the course of the program. Workshop content includes: Leadership, understanding self and others Leadership and Team Building Communication Skills and Advocacy Goal Setting and Creating Action Plans Public Speaking and Working with the Media Networking and creating partnerships Grant seeking and submission writing Good governance Managing change and resilience Mentor: You will be matched with a mentor who will meet with you regularly throughout the program (approximately one hour per fortnight). Your mentor will provide one on one guidance, support and advice to you throughout the program. You can either nominate a mentor that you would like to be matched with or alternatively a mentor will be allocated to you. Community Project: Participants will work in groups on community projects. In the first few workshop sessions, the participants will brainstorm and select up to five projects to work on (and complete) within the timeframes of the program. Make sure you put any of your initial ideas for a project on your application form. The community projects are a great opportunity to apply your course learning. This will be held on Wednesday 15 April 2015 6.00 – 7.00pm Council Boardroom Greater Shepparton City Council Offices Welsford Street, Shepparton Commitment: Commitment is approximately 7 hours per fortnight. 3 hours for workshops and 1 hour for mentor session and approximately 3 hours to work on your community project between sessions. In addition there will be an Event Launch, a Networking Dinner and also a Graduation event. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend all sessions to gain full benefits of the program.
