Return applications & additional questions send to: [email protected] Campus Climate Representative Application Information Campus Climate Series Overview The Campus Climate Series is a comprehensive diversity course for fraternity and sorority leaders to gain tangible tools and skills to develop positive campus climate. What is campus climate? • Behaviors within a workplace or learning environment, ranging from subtle to cumulative to dramatic, that can influence whether an individual feels personally safe, listened to, valued, and treated fairly and with respect. Campus Climate Network Group (2002). • The atmosphere or ambience of an organization as perceived by its members. An organization's climate is reflected in its structures, policies, and practices; the demographics of its membership; the attitudes and values of its members and leaders; and the quality of personal interactions. • Campus climate is defined as the current attitudes, behaviors and standards of faculty, staff, administrators and students concerning the level of respect for individual needs, abilities and potential. This series is designed to provide comprehensive training regarding diversity, campus climate, and multicultural competence. The goals of this series are as follows: • Gain essential tools to explore how their leadership and diverse identities impacts others. • Work with fraternity and sorority leaders that wish to enhance the campus climate and promote social equity. • Develop the confidence and ability to educate chapter members through tangible ways to create inclusive spaces and positive campus climate. • Understand social systems and how individuals have the power shape social change in our increasingly diversifying global society. Campus Climate Series Representative Program Requirements Representatives are required to commit their full participation to the entire 2015-‐ 2016 academic year. • Attendance in the Fall Retreat on Saturday, October 3, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm • A commitment to membership for the full academic year (Fall, Winter & Spring, includes 2.0 units of credit) -‐ Wednesday at 3pm – 4:20pm • Serve as a point of contact for chapter members to engage in diversity education • Assist in campuswide events and educational boothing opportunities • Provide education regarding resources and options to respective chapter members, including a commitment to: o coordinate one collaborative workshop/program o provide brief educational tips at chapter meetings on a monthly basis • Completion of administrative forms (i.e. evaluations, surveys, program proposals) • Active participation at weekly discussions in class and completion of class assignments. • Submit a three-‐page reflection paper each quarter Your commitment to the Campus Climate Series will benefit you by providing: • 1.3 units N/NP credit in the Fall Quarter and 2.0 units of academic credit for Winter & Spring quarter • Facilitated discussions faculty and staff. • Opportunities to impact campus and the Greek Life community. • Personal growth and empowerment through individual reflection and small/large group discussions.
