As the sun comes out this Spring, we can’t get our minds off all of the momentum in Greensboro. This year we
have our eyes fixed on urban transformation and big events including progress on the Downtown Greenway, the
Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts, Union Square Campus and LeBauer Park. Plus, the welcoming
of the National Folk Festival this September! These public spaces and events will add a tremendous amount of
community activity for all to enjoy. Free and inclusive programming for Greensboro residents and visitors are a
point of pride for our community. In the spirit of collaboration, Center City Park has partnered with the Downtown

COMING 2016
The new Carolyn & Maurice LeBauer Park, scheduled to open downtown in Spring
2016, promises to be the heart of an envisioned “cultural district” unlike anything in
Greensboro’s history.
Some of the 3.5-acre park’s amenities will include gardens, a performance pavilion
and lawn that can accommodate up to 2,000 people, a children’s play area, outdoor
“reading rooms,” an interactive water feature plaza, market area and dog park.
LEBAUER PARK
Creative and thoughtful planning – with critical input from community leaders, as well
as local and national design experts – has resulted in a robust vision for the park.
Ideally placed on land that once included the YWCA, this new destination
will physically connect some of Greensboro’s biggest cultural assets,
including the Greensboro Cultural Center, Center City Park, the
Greensboro Historical Museum, the Greensboro Public Library and, as
of 2017, the new Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts. In doing
so, LeBauer Park will anchor a large “cultural district” in the heart of
downtown.
Upon completion of LeBauer Park, The Community
Foundation of Greater Greensboro will fulfill the final wishes
of the donor, the late Carolyn Weill LeBauer, whose bequest is
making the park possible, by transferring the park to the city.
