What is Green Shift™?
Green Shift™ is as much a concept as it is a company.
At its core, Green Shift is based on helping companies to be environmental leaders (and helping true leaders to be recognized), in
order to set a precedent and create a friendly natural force in the marketplace that gathers support and encourages others to
follow.
Our mission is in navigating a greener path and forging ahead daily to create it. We strive to bring about continuous
environmental improvements – ideals achieved through passion, determination, applied knowledge and the power of numbers.
The real Green ShiftTM is what we together are creating - a form of unified diversity. We thank all companies and individuals who
are helping us to bring about a greener world.
What is the Green Supply House™?
When our assessments and consulting revealed that distribution channels were not willing to offer our recommended
environmental alternatives, or when they did but would later switch our clients back to the non eco (often claiming that it was the
"new eco"), we concluded that the only way to ensure that real environmental alternatives were available to the market was to
develop the means to do it ourselves. Green Shift™ developed the Green Supply House™ in 2001 and became the first
“distributor” in North America, possibly the world, to ensure that all our products offer the best available environmental solution.
To this end, Green Shift™ acts as a sourcing and screening agent for the products, and a consultant and advisor to
manufacturers and consumers. The Green Supply House™ acts as a warehouse and distributor. Together it results in an efficient
tool to bring about change as consumers are given a value added source of products that have already undergone screening, and

The Green Shift Insignia
TM
This symbol is used to identify the components of Green ShiftTM - essentially a marker on the path, to help individuals to recognize
items and companies that are on board with Green Shift™; helping to create a shift in the marketplace.
It is important to note that while at one level this symbol represents products or services we have assessed and found to be the
most environmental choice, it really is more about creating recognition for leaders, and marking the path to sustainability.
Recognizing that we are chasing a moving target, and that very few things are yet 100% green, this symbol is a representation
of something that is a part of the journey to Green, rather than the end in itself. Companies who are supporting this are
therefore helping to bring about continuous movement and/or improvements. In the coming years we hope to grow internally in
order to provide more services to help you be part of the Green Shift™, and to be able to use this tool more widely in order to
gather support and really make strong headway on our journey to a deep shade of green.
A Brief History:
Green Shift™ began performing assessments of goods and services long before developing the Green Supply House™. The
founder of Green Shift™ has had a lifetime in environmental preservation, and years of studying and work involvement with
worldwide environmental auditing and certification programs (including many years auditing for the US Green SealTM, Canada's
Eco LogoTM and the Green Leaf Eco RatingTM Programs).
Respecting the need for a minimum standard, but wanting a system that would push for ongoing improvements, we began the
concept of Green Shift™.

Procurement Guidelines & Principles:
• Green Shift™ has spent years educating manufacturers and suppliers about reducing waste, conserving our natural resources, and
preserving our natural environment. On an ongoing basis, we ask manufacturers to provide environmental data pertaining to their
products and methods (including sources of raw materials, content details, and recyclability of any resulting waste), and we ask
them to do lifecycle analyses to determine the most environmental choice.
• Green Shift™ supports, encourages and/or educates companies to minimise packaging and/or develop innovative methods of
reusing, reducing and recycling. When packaging is necessary, where possible, Green Shift™ selects companies that use packaging
made from renewable resources and/or the highest post consumer recycled materials, avoiding materials processed with harmful
and/or unnecessary chemicals.
• Green Shift™ has spent many years educating or pleading with manufacturers to stop using plastic #3 and #6, and in turn has
played a major role in persuading businesses across Canada to do the same. Best alternatives are/have been sought and provided
on a case by case basis.
• Green Shift™ does its very best to avoid and find alternatives to manufacturers who use unnecessary chemicals or pollutiongenerating substances. Beyond the obvious avoidance of chlorine or petroleum deriviatives, this includes a large and meticulous
cross-referencing of chemicals on virtually all databases of safety warnings and "right to know" listings.
• Green Shift™ considers the entire lifecycle of products and services in its purchasing decisions and does its best to operate itself in
the most environmentally sensitive manner. This includes careful consideration and balancing of the source of raw materials, the
manufacturing process (including waste generation, by-products, water and energy usage and the ethics of the companies that are
benefitting from the business), the required transportation, the methods of storage, handling and use of the finished product, and
what becomes of the product after it has fulfilled its purpose. Like many small companies, we have limitations on certain aspects of
our own processes. For example: we do not own transport fleets, however, we convey a strong message to all of our suppliers and

Certifications and Third Party Validation:
Green Shift TM performs its own assessment of goods and services however, a part of that means a cross referencing of other
programs. The following is an explanation of what this means.
Canada's Eco Logo signifies Certification by Canada's Environmental Choice Program, as a product that is environmentally preferable:

Fair Trade Symbol: signifying that workers were paid a fair price for their wares: TransFair.ca
Specifically used for products imported from developing countries where workers are commonly not paid fair wages.
Green Shift Insignia - A symbol to identify companies and/or products that are in the category of environmental excellence. Our assessment is an umbrella
over multiple certifications. It represents a best of category and a product that we, with the help of the collective Environmental Leaders who are a part of
our network, are helping to push and ensure continuous improvements. Most of the products that we endorse and/or supply will have met or exceeded
multiple standards but we also developed Green Shift to help identify and support leading products and manufacturers who cannot afford certification but
who have been investigated and have participated in either written validation and/or an on-site examination by Green ShiftTM. The founder of Green Shift is
a long time auditor with the US Green Seal and Canada's Eco Logo.
Green Shift Company Logo - Anything and everything sold under the name of Green Shift is done so with the utmost consideration to the full lifecycle
impact and thus is an assurance to anyone looking for the most Environmental Choices. Not shown on any individual products as it applies to ALL Products
found in the Green Supply House.
Getting Started:
Step 1. Set up an Account by filling out and submitting our account application form - this will
ensure we have all of your delivery details and contact information properly set up in the system. You can get an

Please note: We are a relationship based business and thus we only send pricing and applications once we know who we are speaking
with. With a mission of helping business to be environmentally responsbile, we also like to speak to companies to discuss what we can do
to help, and ensure that your account is set up fully and completely, without delay.
We offer new enquiries at least 20 minutes of consultative advice, and answers to questions (on the phone), in order
for us to learn about your business and ensure that we can provide qualified advice in areas that have the most
environmental impact. Ongoing advice then continues as the relationship grows.
If you do not want to set up an account and just want a one off order, you can do that. Email your order form with
all pertinent details including your phone number where someone can call back to confirm. Please note that only
account holders are eligible for discounts.

* Delivery rates depend on your location, delivery requirements and order frequency. Strong supporters/regular orders = discounts.

* All prices are based on COD. Longer terms can be established for companies who place monthly orders, after a rapport has been
established, if we can be assured that we do not need to spend time and money to collect payment.
* Orders received before 12:00 noon generally leave our warehouse the following business day. Depending on your location(s)
you will receive your order the day after your order was placed (ie. 21-29 hours after order cut off), or within 2 - 3 business days if you
are in a central area of a different province, anywhere in Canada. Longer times can be expected for remote regions. If you would like an
ETA for your location, please email us, with your postal code. Note - orders to BC, ALTA, NS, NFLD, NB can be 2 business days if received
before noon (EST) on Thursdays.
* Deliveries are made to business addresses between 9am and 5pm Monday through Friday. If there is a request for restricted
hours of delivery, we will always try our best (and often succeed) BUT, if it needs to be guaranteed, additional charges generally are
incurred and applied.
* Rush Orders (same day or after cut off) are possible but additional charges apply - varying with how rushed something needs to be.
* If you have a businesses operating out of a residential address a surcharge may apply as many residential streets do not permit
commercial delivery trucks.
* Returns and exchanges are accepted within 60 days of purchase, and must be unopened, in original packaging and accompanied by an
invoice. Making arrangements for a return is the responsibility of the client and may be subject to a 20% restocking charge. If there is a problem

products. For companies and organizations who become regular and show strong support we have an eco points system that can translate
into added discounts. Please enquire or we will let you know if your account is flagged as reaching this status and/or if an order comes in
where a discount can be applied.

Guarantees:
Green Shift™ stands behind the quality of all products sold through the Green Supply House™. If something does not meet your
expectations please tell us. We will do everything we can to rectify the problem in a sensitive and timely fashion. The most important
guarantee that comes with anything from Green Shift™ is that your purchasing dollars go layers beneath the surface. Sales are a means to
an end for us, not an end in itself. In addition to a lot of time in pioneering work and expertise in sourcing, screening and educating, we
put a lot of time and expense into monitoring and pushing for environmental improvements. Although we have made a lot of headway,
there is always more to be done. Despite these additional costs, we strive to be very competitive with companies who do not put any time
into this and those who offset the costs of environmental products with non eco products. If our prices are ever perceived as anything but
fair we would appreciate hearing about it as market conditions are always changing and we need to stay onto the manufacturers. We

We do a wide variety of custom printed items. Hot and Cold Cups, Napkins, coffee sleeves, recycling bins, biodegradable labels,
etc. Most items require a minimum of 50,000 units for custom printing but custom labels can be done, economically, in as few as

** We offer other items that we call "off list" becasue they may only be stocked as a speical item or brought in with an advanced
order. In particular this applies to items that are similar to what you see in our catalogue but in different sizes and shapes. In
other words, our manufacturers often have many sizes or shapes that we do not choose unless we perceive a void or a demand.
Another great item that we offer is unique custom printed biodegradable labels. These are all quoted individually based on
custom artwork, but we are working on some standardizations for this in order to provide you with a quick reference chart.
