The University of the Arts offers full and partial scholarships. These scholarships are
based on an audition and academic record. All scholarship offers are made once we have
seen all auditions for the 2014-2015 audition cycle. At the Regional High School Dance
Festival, we will be auditioning students for acceptance into the university, and
potentially nominating them for scholarships.
The School of Dance’s major course of study takes the depth and rigor of a disciplinebased dance conservatory while engaging students in open discussions within their own
practice, valuing their voices as capable of developing new and critical perspectives in
dance. These strategies give way to student driven pathways and expand the ways
students can access and think about the practices and techniques of making and
performing dance.

This scholarship, called the dean’s Meritorious Scholarship, is valued at over $13,496 per
year, which includes a $500 award plus a non-resident tuition waiver. This award is
renewable for up to three additional years which would bring the total approximate value
to $53,984 distributed equally over four years.
The Scholarship covers out of state residency fee, and cash toward in-state tuition.
The Department of Theatre and Dance offers a B.A. in Dance and a B.A. in Dance with
K-12 Teacher Certification.
All majors complete a core curriculum that exposes them to the broad range of dance
technique and studies. This core curriculum includes courses in performance (modern,
ballet, jazz technique and choreography), production (technical production and
performance skills) and theory (music theory, kinesiology, dance history).
B.A. in Dance students continue with focused studio work in modern and ballet technique
as well as courses in advanced choreography, dance pedagogy, and career development.
They select a minor to complement their dance studies.
Dance Education students--pursuing the focused, professional degree program in teacher
education--take advanced courses in pedagogy, ballet and modern technique and career
development.
This scholarship is for out of state students who will major in dance or dance education.
