Music Ministry Notes
Thank you for your continued musical participation! All are invited to
join in the musical preparations for the Friday May 1st Confirmation
Mass. Rehearsals will be Tuesday, April 28 at 7:45pm in the church.
Please respect the space of the musical ministers at Mass. The area
of seats sectioned off by the white iron rails near the piano is for
choir members and musicians that participate in weekly rehearsals
ONLY. If you wish to simply show up at Mass and sing any seat
in the assembly is the perfect spot for that! If you would like to
become a member of the choir simply see the music leader of your
Mass time of choice for a rehearsal schedule.
Please watch the bulletin for the upcoming Good Shepherd cantor
training. Those interested in learning to proclaim the Word in song
are encouraged to attend.
Rosary Night of Prayer
The Knights of Columbus of Good Shepherd Catholic Church is
offering a Rosary Night of Prayer in honor of our Blessed Mother
on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at 6:00 pm in the Church, celebrating
the feast day of Our Lady of Fatima. We will pray the rosary with
Good Shepherd’s 13th Day of the Month Prayer Group and invite
all Good Shepherd parishioners and all Brother Knights to attend.
May is the month of Mary! What a great way to ask for her intercession by praying the rosary. This is a great opportunity for you to
give thanks for blessings received, to pray for the sick in our parish

Catholic Home Missions
Many dioceses right here in the United States do not have enough
priests and trained lay ministers to serve their parishes. These
dioceses are known as home missions. The Catholic Home Missions
Appeal will take place this weekend in the second collection, and
supports these dioceses by funding essential ministries, including
seminary education and lay ministry training. Please be generous
in this appeal and share your resources to strengthen the Church at
home. A portion of the collection will also support the effort by the
Church for Black and Native American Indians.
Knights of Columbus Scholarship
All Catholic students who are members of Good Shepherd Parish
and attend public, private or parochial schools who are currently in
the eighth grade, and who will be attending a catholic high school,
are invited to participate in the 2015 Laguna Council High School
Scholarship Contest. Students are encouraged to write a 500 to 750
word essay on the following theme: Importance of Religious Freedom. The local contest will be hosted by Laguna Council #11236 in
Elk Grove. Three scholarships of $1,000.00 each will be awarded.
The entry form is available on the Laguna Council’s website at
www.laguna-knights.org. No entrant will be admitted without the
completed parental consent section. Your entry form and essay
may be submitted in person or can be mailed to Knights of Columbus 9539 Racquet Ct, Elk Grove, CA 95758. Essays will not be
accepted after May 8, 2015.
Camp Pendola
Camp Pendola helps campers develop independence and confidence. The overnight camp experience is a great place for children
and youth to express their individuality as they select activities that
they enjoy, are supported in something new and celebrate their successes with cabin mates. For more information check out our web
site www.pendola.org or call 916-733-0123.
kinderchurch
The Kinderchurch Ministry is a parent participation ministry open to Good
Shepherd’s youngest parishioners – ages 18 months (by the first day of
Kinderchurch) through their Kindergarten year. * The Kinderchurch program seeks to build an enriching faith community for
the youngest members of our church. We supplement their Catholic foundation
with a meaningful religious education program through the use of age-appropriate lessons, stories, songs, and crafts while their parents attend Mass. * Kinderchurch is offered during the 9 am Mass from September through May.
* We are looking for more adult catechists to help provide this wonderful
religious experience for the children of our parish - NO teaching experience
is needed! Please contact Laura Wade and Angela Banbury at [email protected]
with any questions. CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD
CLOW is a parent participation ministry staffed solely by volunteers for 1st4th graders which takes place during Sunday 9am, 11am, and 5pm Masses.
Father calls up the children AFTER the Opening Prayer and we process the
children to the Parish Center for our class. The children return at the end of
the Homily so they can participate in Holy Communion. Please email clow@
gscceg.org for more information if you would like to volunteer as a Catechist
or assistant .

by the Diocese of Sacramento. This unique and effective experience

St. Vincent de Paul News
We are pleased to be settled in our new space and
have so much more room. Thanks for your patience. Our hopes are that by next week we will
be accepting clothing and miscellaneous items to
the shed in the SVDP parking lot. The cart in the
Narthex is ONLY for food items. Please do not
put anything other than food in the cart. We are
asking that nothing be left on the floor around
the cart. If your food donation doesn’t fit in the cart OR you have
non-food items to donate, please drop them off on Monday morning to get a donation letter, or place the donation in the shed once
it’s ready.
This week we were able to hand out bread, cabbage, celery, potatoes, oranges, condiments, and snacks. We were able to assist 63
families, serving 198 people and gave out 190 boxes/bags of food.
